After 23 years, since first learning to ride my 20" unicycle, I’m ready to roll again. I was very proficient age 14 to 45 years of age at long distance street and dirt road riding. Now at 68 years old, I’ve kept myself in fairly good shape but I’ll need to develop stronger leg muscles. Hoping this senior female can meet her challenge! I live in DeLand, FL. USA
Kudos for planning to get back into unicycling! Wish you lots of fun. (and strong legs )
Awesome! I started at 64; 68-1/2 now and ride most days. Have 20-24-29-36 and enjoy them all. Unicycling keeps me young (most days :).
Welcome, @uni_senior_returns !
Oh, I am so BUMMED. I thought I would hop on my unicycle and just go. I can’t believe that I am having to totally start the learning process over again. It amazes me. I really thought since I was such a good unicyclist before it would be easy but now, my legs don’t work. I am so disappointed. (I picked up a 20" preowned Schwinn for $40) I need some encouragment.
It’s gonna happen. Keep it up! You got this.
@uni_senior_returns Welcome back to the world of unicycling! I have been riding for 2-3 years, and now I am 12 years old. I hope when I am your age I can still be able to ride. Good luck!
How long has it been since your last ride?
What Level / skills / terrain did you ride back then?
With a normal brain, the memory will be somewhere, just keep on searching
I just pavement street rode, fairly long distances on a 20", always barefoot! I lived near dirt roads which Iloved to ride because they were more bumpy and challenging. I guess my last time on a uni was around age 42 and I’m 68 now, so that’s about 26 years since I last rode. I’m 5’6", 127 lbs, same as always but… my body ain’t cooperating, lol.
Keep going!.. it will click again.
Such honesty will be rewarded.
Keep at it. Hopefully it will be a short time before you’re back into it and riding smoothly on any terrain.
Well, you may have to learn it all over again, but I‘m pretty sure you will learn quicker than the first time. It‘s still there, somewhere, just waiting to be discovered.
I worked at learning to unicycle again for an hour in my driveway yesterday and made progress. I’m thrilled - 47 feet yesterday. Had numerous falls and the unicycle went down. Most of them no issue, but one fall I went backwards on the ground and had to roll with it. Kind of scary (at my age) but I got up and kept going. Happy to realize now that I will get this unicycling down again, I feel it. Thank you for the encouragement. I was quite bummed out yesterday with myself until I went out and accomplished this. I said a prayer to God and asked him to help me, the very next ride I made 13 revolutions!) It got better from there!
