Question for Jack Halpern

Jack,

In your book “Anyone Can Ride a Unicycle” (which I do not own) did you really
write the sentence, “Women seem to enjoy a distinct biological advantage when
it comes to unicycling, as they are free from any supererogatory
excrescencies”?

I will not dispute the intent of this sentence, but are our excrescences (sic?)
really that supererogatory?

Just wondering,
