Q about 'new' miyate seat

I noticed that my ‘new’ (new style, and it’s only a few weeks old) handle

seems more flexy (when pulled up on) I didn’t notice it before

does this mean that it’s already starting to pull bolts out of holes?

(visual inspection sees the bolts and handle/seat interface intact)

or is this flex just something that happens…hence all the handle upgrades) ?

One things for sure… The bolts are DEFINATLEY NOT COMMING OUT!! When I tried putting a seat cover onto a new Miyata such as yours, I could grip the bolts, turn and turn(and the bolt was in fact turning with it), but it never came off. So I assure you that there is probally nothing at all wrong with it!

Check to see if the handle is ripping on either side underneath. Pull up and
look for cracks and tears.

I agree with Dylan. Chances are good that your handle is starting to rip apart. Take the handle off and check to make sure it’s still in one piece. You may need to franken-fix it.

Mr. Sofa,

If I read you right, the answer is that the plastic is simply far inferior than the old style Miyata seats. The older style seats had a far more dense plastic - not as flexy - and held up better to the abuse. It almost seems to be that the new style seat plastic had the density of a plastic grocery bag.

on closer inspection, these are loafers…oh sorry, on closer inspection, it’s just cheap plastic. that’s relief. (it just felt weird, is all)

Will it break before the Velo’s are out? Probably. I’m not sure if I’ll still be unicycling by the time they come out

(shut up Phil)

While Phil is dutifully silent, may I chime in wondering why you USA
folks don’t order the Velo from the UK. Just how much can the extra
shipping be?

(And neither do I understand why unicycle.com still has no supply but
that may be higher logistics - beyond a normal mortal’s
comprehension.)

But the lifespan of a waistbud seems to last forever.
