Pro-tec "The Ace" Skate Helmet

yesterday i was trialing and it was raining.
i sliped and hit my head on a plate…
the plate was sharp…
I thanks god that i was using a helmet… maybe if i was not using a helmet i was dead this time or with my head broked…

guys… wear a helmet… accidents can happen any time and you will never know the time

me 2, but i have matt blue not the shiny 1

how much is your head worth?

For x-mas I got a uniqo (stunt bike that comes apart to make a regular uni). The first thing I did was try to pull a wheelie to try to ride only on the uni. I smacked the back of my head on the concrete basement floor in an instant. I decided to get a helmet before riding the uniqo as a stunt bike again. Investigation on the internet revealed that protec helmets were one of the few helmets that have multi impact technology, with certification for both skate(astm 1492, multi impact) and bike(cpsc, major impact). I decided to go with the protec ace dig, basically the “ace” helmet with a removable visor.

WARNING TO ANYONE SHOPPING FOR HELMETS ONLINE!
Originally I ordered from PT Helmets at www.protechelmets.com. After a couple weeks waiting, and no response to e-mails or phone calls I became concerned and started to investigate. I found people on several forums, from skaters to skydivers, that had been screwed around by these guys. I also called the protec parent company and found out these guys weren’t certified dealers of protec and that they were aware of complaints. I sent one last nasty e-mail threatening to call the credit card company, the better business bureau, etc. Magically within a few hours they finally responded and credited the money back to my account. I ended up ordering from amazon and even spent less money.
Has anyone else ever dealt with these guys at PT Helmets? Has anyone ever actually received a helmet from them?
DON’T USE WWW.PROTECHELMETS.COM!!!

But I do recommend a Protec helmet.

Plenty of times. the embarrasing part is that every time it happened I was hopping up the step into my garage through the door (I’m 6’ 3"). One time, the unicycle hit my head!

Sorry to post yet again, but is there a difference between the bike and skate versions? I think Ryan atkins has one in Defect too

if you don’t think you need to spend some cash to get a good helmet, you’re right.

You have to remember that a helmet of similar quality to the protect ace helmet, but that is one time impact will cost ~$25 (USD). By the time you crash on the protec one say three times, you will have to buy a new helmet for ~$50. Total helmet costs for protec route will be ~$100. Then crash the $25 helmet three times, each time buying a new helmet you will have spent $100. Then you crash it the third time and you buy a new one. You have now spent $125. It ends up being cheaper to get the protec helmet, and you will have a nicer helmet while it does last you.

Sorry if the above post made no sense. If was kind of confusing, and I’m tired.

I paid $34.99 for the protec ace-dig and $24.99 for a protec classic in January on Amazon.com. Super-saver shipping was free on order over $25 and adds 3-5 days wait. Under $60 for 2 protec helmets!

Pt Helmets Poor Service Possibly Fraudulent

I recently ordered from PT and have been in contact (I use this term loosely) with Dan Wade. PT has failed to respond to my emails. They don’t answer their phones. So far they have not charged my credit card yet I have informed the FTC. Stay away from these guys. I wouldn’t say they are criminal but I would be VERY cautious. Buy from someone you KNOW you can trust.

Best innerds Ive found with any helmet so far. The foam is completely covered with sweatband material. It does a couple cool things, not only does it keep the sweat out of yer face, it also holds the foam together longer. Way more compfy and alot more usefull.

Right now I have the tripple eight foam in a protech helmet as I find those shells a bit more suiting for my head.

Where do you get it? The front lining foam from my pro-tec helmet fell out and I lost it. So I need some sort of liner.

I have the brian Patch helmet by Pro-Tec. Its great. blue and yellow.

there is a “contact us” link. You can see if they will sell you just the foam, and if they will do it direct or where to look.

I think this is it:

If so, it is sold individualy. Tho it apears they only have X-L there. Prolly would still fit. 15.00 dollars.
