Post Your MUni here!

Thanks for the reply!!

Im not completely sure :o

I know that after looking at some of the pictures of the MT2 on UDC that its not the stock rotor (correct me if im wrong).

Only about 1/4’’ of the pads are rubbing on the rotor. Is this pretty standard??

So you’re using the aluminum hub with the non-ISIS crank interface?

Correct! This is the 6pin model

Here’s my Geared Muni! I use it for rpetty much everything now, I used to change my wheel depending on if I was going to ride some intense stuff or not, I think the Schlumpf hub is good enough for everything, I haven’t done drops over 4 foot, I dont have any problems with it (I think, I just gotta figure out where that big strange noise comes from, it doesn’t sound like a hub, it doesn’t sound like nothing on a unicycle, or nothing mecanical, stange stuff).

Here it is!

Specs:
-CF seatbase on custom foam.
-KH 2007 frame
-KH 2007 rim
-KH Schlumpf hub M0505
-KH Moments, drilled, 137mm
-IRC Kujo 3" Tire
-Magura HS-22 Raceline brake (water bleeded!)
-Echo TR Pedals

how is the drilled moments i am considoring drilling mine.

They’re lighter, they also look pretty cool. I haven’t sern anyone breaking momets cranks, alot of riders have drilled them already. It doesn’t make any difference otherwise.

I love the look and loosing weight is a plus so ima go do it. how is the water bleed break also.

The water bleeded brake works perfect! My Trials Biking friend showed me how to do it, it’s pretty easy, clean and it works well. Right now my brake is working better than it ever did, but I also have Steel Braided cables.

Here’s a pic from the weight savings thread:

but MuniOrBust may have gone overboard with the drilling.

I remember seeing these, but not broken! I though that they were “over-drilled”. The holes on mine are not even 1/2", and I still have alot of space between the holes. I used to ride mine for Street but I really wanted to go back to 137s on my Muni so I’m currently still looking for a pair of 137s for my Muni, which will also end up drilled.

Engineering opinion

The radius of the milled out section is too small, leading to stress concentration.
The edges should have been far more rounded.

I considered getting my moments machined but it was cheaper, and lighter, just to buy some new spirit cranks. They weigh 2/3rds of the moments and would probably be stronger than machined moments as they have been stress assessed for their specific design. If you have an old set of moments and access to a mill (plus the skills to do it) then go ahead and have a go at it.

I am not going to drill my moments on my 26 because it gets ridden to hard.

He drilled out enough material to make a set of freestyle cranks.

There’s no way you ride it too hard to drill them with 1/2" holes. You won’t break or bend them.

Better off breaking the drilled moments then snapping the Schlumpf axle. ( Like i did)

First there was “Fusilli Jerry”…

Now say hello to… “Macaroni MUni”!

My muni family (left to right):

36" Stealth 2 Rim, Oregon Hub, Vee Rubber prototype 2.25" XC Tire
32" Super Cruiser Rim, Oregon Hub, Maxxis Advantage 2.10" Frankentire, Nimbus Impulse Frame, KH accessories, Magure MT2 Brake,
29" Stealth 2 Rim, Oregon Hub, Scwalbe Hans Dampf 2.4" Tire, Nimbus Oregon Frame, KH accessories, Magure MT2 Brake,
26" Surly Larry XC Rim, Oregon Hub, INtense DH FRO 2.5" Tire

All unis are outfitted with KH Freeride seats, KH Moments 165mm, and 200mm rotors. The 36" is tubeless, the rest are tubed. I built the 29" Stealth last night, it will be set up tubeless with a Surly Knard 3" when they’re released. The 32" is going to get an Ardent 2.4 Frankentire next. The 26" Larry wheel makes skinny tires really fat, so the Intense 2.5 is the same width as a Duro 3", also the Larry rim can fit 4" tires when the going gets muddy or snowy.

I can swap wheels in a couple minutes, no brake adjustment necessary, all of the wheels fit on the 36er, the 26/29/32 all fit on the Oregon.

I leave Sunday for Moab and the California Munifest, two unis and four wheels

I think I may be a gearwhore

A bit extra stength would be needed by such a big rider (6’4", 240 lbs if I remember correctly).

That is AWSOME
(looks more like cinamon sticks too me)
