i guess it came from my b*ke, something about 25 and german and bare aluminium rims and hubs, chrome forks and mudguards and pale gold frame. even though she looks like a heap of junk up close now you can tell that she was damn pretty.
front mudguard destroyed itself since this pic too
Ahhh! Close the curtains! Seeing those two wheels bolted onto one frame effected like a vampire who has had a darkened window opened to the sun . Of course I also have b*cycles but I keep it quiet and only ride them in the dark.
i live in a city where only the stupid do not have b*kes, it takes ~4 times as long to get to the city centre from here by car - or indeed twice as long as by unicycle
The aim of the Nightfox was to get the saddle as low as possible with a handle. It is currently way way lower than any other model! Some of the sacrifice was to have the saddle angle adjustable. Our research showed that the majority of people never change the saddle angle. So we selected an angle that most people are comfortable with.
As it happens the design has one big advantage over standard saddle support systems. It is considerably more rigid.
If you really want to have it at a different angle get a KH base saddle with bolts and fit spacers under the front bolt holts and use the longer bolts.
Just one image to highlight the ongoing construction of my fully polished 36er. The plastic parts seem to have translated OK into âNaboo Starship modeâ. Iâm having to wear shades as I assemble to avoid the polished and silvered glare
Oh no. Powdercoating requires heat does it not? I understand there is the two-pack paint system that hardens with an epoxy so its cold but not sure is its available in silver. I did a little research on specialist paint coatings for plastics and came up with an aerosol spray paint. I got a plastic primer and cleaned the components finishing with wet and dry. The top coat is intended for plastic and I gave it several coats to build the finish.
Not sure how durable this will turn out. I will be letting the paint harden for a few weeks before assembling. Ive only had to treat the mudguard as the rest is metal. Although I am fitting a white handle to the Impact saddle and likewise a white bumper. These were bought by purchasing this http://www.unicycle.uk.com/unicycle-parts/saddles/saddles/schwinngel-blu-sil.html from unicycle.co.uk. So I can remove the handle and bumper and put them on the Impact
Nice! With a UCM and some chrome SINZ cranks and bolts? And a Hope Tech hydraulic dual piston with braided line? And a chromed KH-TBar with bar ends? Nabu Starship mode as you call it, or maybe Terminator2 MUni? With the right lighting, it would make for some really great photos. Nice work with to date progress:-)
Ms Silver as she has been named is not having too much âclutterâ â if I could call a brake that. The Starwars Naboo starship (pic) is my source of inspiration for Ms Silver but I used Terminator inspiration to create Mr Black (pic). And he has an Avid carbon-fibre brake with a lever fitted âupside-downâ on the bars in an effort to improve the âaesthetic runâ of the hose. Yup the âchromedâ Tbar is ready to fit! (pic)
Using the foss tube to protect the re-profiled and polished Stealth2 rim. (pic) Hub not changed yet. If the modified rim behaves itself once itâs on the road I intend to rebuild it with a KH titanium hubâŚâŚbecause it sounds good
Hey, thanks for the heads-up! You have reminded me that I have contacts in the photo business. I will check out the possibility of doing studio shots of the two uniâs. Should make a nice contrast, one all black and one all chrome
Ah-haa thatâs the special edition âacrylic-rubberâ transparent tyre I have fitted
Seriously, in the interests of producing as bright a machine as possible I really have to consider reducing the black influence of the tyre. So,Obi-Wan, have your creative-juices guessed what I am going to do?
Get a white tire and paint it silver. Normal wear will leave only the knob tips white which wonât show so much like black would. Ah, thatâs my guess.
Wow! outstanding, I hadnât thought of that. However, I donât think there is a 36 white tyre available? So I have a few spare standard 36 tyres and will try out your suggestion by painting one with white tyre-wall paint and break the knob tips in with my Nimbus Nightrider. Xmas is intruding but pics to follow asap.
