Plans for unicycle?

Hi all, I am considering the possibility of building my own unicycle. I
remember that there were some plans in one magazine which I had years ago. But
now it seems to me impossible to find some plans on the Net. If you have some
idea, advice or you know site where some can be obtained, please let me know.
Post your answer in group as well as on my personall e-mail adresse please.
Thanks a lot Hans

Re: Plans for unicycle?

I use a frame my dad made. It’s pretty basic but it works well. It has Semcycle
XL type bearing holders. 3/4" .058 chromoly tubing on the down tubes from the
fork crown to the bearing holders. It has a fork crown and seat tube made from
1" .058 chromoly tubing. then we just used a suzue (miyata) 36 hole hub and a
good BMX rim. Weld the thing together in a similar type of shape that a DM
ringmaster has but the fork crown is one piece. Then my dad made some metal
circles and out them on the ends of the fork crown so they don’t hurt.

The down tubes of the fork are 9 1/4" long. The fork crown is 4" long. And
the seat tube length depends on the length of a persons legs.

The frame can accommodate a 20x2.2" tire (about).

Re: Plans for unicycle?

This is the age of the bicycle. The most any of us generally “builds” on our
unicycles is the fork (the rest of the components we just buy from the bicycle
industry and assemble…) So what kind of fork do you want?

But you can buy a fork, too, if you like, for as little at $34 at
unicyclesource.com. Then you just buy all the other components you want, a
little assembly, and voila: a custom unicycle.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions. I have seen even bended fork - not bad for
first testing, when I don’t want invest to something more expensive - I have
tons of old parts of bycycles and so… But last problem is the unicycle hub. I
will have to try addapt some normal hub. I live in Prague, so it’s not so easy
to buy from unicyclesource.com. Firstly it’s not so cheap for me, secondly it
would be even more expensive with all the charge of postage and so. And in
Bohemia there isn’t such firm which sell so special components as unicycle hub
(as far as I know). So I will have to improvise.

Thanks again for all of you folks Hans
