I’m in an argument right now, so I need to win. You know the singer Pink? Is she black or white? It’s so hard to tell with these singers nowadays…
Anyway, I think she’s black, and my sister thinks she’s white.
If you don’t know who she is, go to altavista (or google…) and type in Pink Singer and click images.
I’m sorry man, but you’re wrong… she’s white. I saw this profile on the beginnings of her career, and they had pictures of her and her family when she was a child, and she was some white punk girl.
definetely white. no doubt(pun intended) about it. ha its funny because pink and gwen stefani are girls and they sing and hah… i guess its not that funny but still…
Out of slavery in the United States there developed what is called the “One Drop Rule” which held, in essence, that a person could be defined as black, and thus be subject to enslavement, if they had even one drop of black African blood in them. This rule was put into law in many places and was used to perpetuate slavery and oppression after the end of slavery.
Similar approaches were used in Nazi Germany to define who was a Jew. I would not be surprised if other similar methods have been used elsewhere.
(u can tell i haven’t been here for a while, pardon me while i try n catch up on my post count…)
i’ve always been mildly blase about Pink’s music till i saw her sing an accoustic (if it wasn’t for the guy sitting there thinking about his guitar it would’ve been a’capella) version of her then latest song (‘Trouble’ i think it was?) at the American Music Video Producers Girlfriends Manicurists Awards (or something like that, i just know it wasn’t one of the ‘majors’)
her singing that night really got my attention
throaty and raw, at times sounding as tho she was singing in harmony with herself, she reminded me of great female vocalists of yore
since comparisons are odious, and in this case downright blasphemous (a big word for a Pantheist), i won’t make them
i have been paying more attention to her music tho
