Morning stroll along St Pete Beach 29April2012. Wondering why we ever moved to New York…
Fort DeSoto Beach. 30April2012
went for a training ride today, second one in a row, did 20 miles yesterday carrying 3 x 2litre bottles, so 6kg, but today i upped it to 24 miles, and 5 x 2litre bottles, so 10kg
Good ride, but you need to get a camelbak! Btw, that seems like way more water than one would need for a 24 mile ride.
haha, i have a camelback, the water was for weight training to be able to carry a tent and food for a few days, its a good thing to use because if it gets to much i can just pour it out!
a lot of the 24 miles was over not very nice rough paths, makes roads seem so easy when i get to them!
not really of my recent ride but here is my kh trials that im currently customizing. Will be sure to get picture up as i get better as well as riding my 36 later
I went for a sunset ride around Cherokee last night. These are some of the pics.
I had to have at least ONE unicycle picture!
These are only a few. I think they turned out OK, in general. This was the first good sunset in awhile over here… I’ve been waiting for a nice day coupled with high, thin clouds.
Do any of you ride with a dslr? I have been wanting to bring my camera on rides, but don’t have a bag that I’m comfortable riding with. Can anyone recommend a good camera bag that won’t flop around a bunch and is comfortable to ride with?
edit: I suppose I should mention that I’m wanting a bag that would work on muni rides.
I have a DSLR, but I don’t take it on my rides unless they are exceptionally short (less than 5 miles). For anything longer I take a small, portable, vanilla camera that gets the job done. It and it’s case goes in my camelbak. There’s not much room, but I don’t use the pocket for anything else anyway.
If I’m on a ride with a biker and they have room in their panniers, I sometimes ask them if I can give it to them for safekeeping… In about 300 miles this season I haven’t had a rough UPD where I flail about like a drunken chihuahua, but if I do, my camelback and the camera’s puny leather case won’t protect it THAT much.
Lots of sheep with small lambs on my local routes at this time of year. On my last ride they were all over the trail so I had to weave in and out between them…
When I grow up, I wanna be like Turtle
So how did you get that shot on the alpine ridge? It looks like you have some sort of head cam extension stickin out from your helmet.
What do you use for the hand cam?
^+1 No freaking doubt!
Peace,
Hex
thanks guys!
ben:i use the go pro 2 and the iPhone for all the shots in the latest video. for the shots you asked, i used the construction below, i like this perspective, too! as you can see in the rear, i strapped some wight on (my bag with the tools i bring on the trails anyway ), with the straps i can change the angle and with the adjustable skiing pole i can change the length (i use this pole also just holding or as a tripod):
Amazing images Turtle!
Ive got nothing nearly as impressive to add to this thread but did have a nice ride this morning.
We are lucky to have a more or less continuous single track network that follows the Yarra River here in Melbourne starting just a few km from the CBD and going for over 50km. I went for an early morning ride this morning on a section quite close to the city and was really surprised when I was concentrating on the run-in to a log roll-over and a kangaroo jumped straight at me from the other side. I came off and he kept bouncing. I didn’t get the camera out in time to get a shot of him but did get one of his paw prints on his launch pad. Roos are common on the outer parts of the trail but I have never seen one this close to the city before.
Turtle, I just looked up that helmet you’re running, the MET Parachute, that is a very nice lid, too bad we can’t get them here. I have a Giro Remedy, but it’s hot and heavy, so I don’t ride with it; I got it for skiing.
Woudl you get the Go Pro II again or is there one you like better?
Keep those pics and videos coming, I’ll start working on mine
thanks ben! i like the met helmet for going fast with the schlumpf hub. i had also the gopro 1 which i didn’t like, but the 2 is very good, for me i don’t know a better one
At the intersection of Roberts and Crawford Corners Roads in Holmdel, NJ near the old Lucent Technologies facility. It’s where the giant water tower in the shape of a transistor is commemorating the invention of said transistor.
Had a fantastic ride with some peeps in a new Southern (UK) MUni group.
Was my first outing on the KH26 so it was a bit of a steep learning curve but hey I have only been riding 3 months!
Me in the silver helmet
Also a video here (can’t get it to embed?)
