How does that racing Ralph tire compare to something like the navegal or stout offroad - and how does it compare to the big apple tire on the road?

That uni is the coolest one around.
good questions, from what i can say it’s perfect for XC, i rode it at the 24h race in davos. for Muni (more technical or Downhill) i prefer the stout (but also a “normal” kh frame instead oft the V-frame) for road riding the racing ralph works also pretty well with high pressure, but probably a big apple would be even better (but for road riding i’m building the 36" v-frame, still waiting for the hub…)
hahaha what the hell is that?!? lol
Snow Ride
Rob I see right through you
You’ll have to ask Alice how the floating belly button works.
I suspect it may have something to do with an anti-gravitational dinner, or something like that.
Thanks. Yeah, I have only really tried a nanoraptor, big apple 2.35, and navegal on my 29er. I hated the nanoraptor tire, but really like the navegal for XC and muni, but for the road it isn’t that great. The Big Apple is great for the road, and with low pressure it is great for XC (as long as the ground isn’t wet or too loose…since there is not much traction), but if I were to rebuild my geared 29er again I would want a good in between tire for the road and XC/light muni.
Out this morning for a “pre” birthday ride. I’m trying to learn some donkey kick and other feet-on-tire tricks, but it’s hard on my MUni because of the brake. I just turned it around. I also saw a huge flock of wild parrots or maybe they were parakeets. pretty colorful, but LOUD, lol!
Parakeets and parrots aren’t native to California are they?
No, but many people who had them as pets let them go into the wild, or they get loose somehow and the population grows. It was thought that most could not survive because they are indigenous to tropical environments in other countries, or having been pets and therefore domesticated, they would not survive. But at least some apparently have! ![]()
This is a video of wild parrots in Pasadena, CA. They look-and sound-very similar to the one’s I saw today. These were purposely let go into the wild because of a fire.
They have multiplied like wildfire too! In fact, the one’s I saw today could be from this flock. They are extremely LOUD and “talkative”, which make them not very fun to be around. Kinda like Kathy Griffin! ![]()
Hey Greg …
Isn’t that Harpers unicycle? But those aren’t Greg’s legs and the feet are to small!
My “official” b-day ride pics. First some MUni at my local trail, then a nice 36er beach ride, stopping for a pic at Hermosa Beach, CA. My brother and sisters treated me to lunch at Black Angus just before my ride. Fun day all around. ![]()
yetserday we did an international downhill ride: three riders three nations: Axel, Germany-Valentin, Switzerland (5. at the Downhill Expert run unicon nz) and turtle, Liechtenstein. we rode two times at the gondla (800vertical meters each)!!
Way to go! Axel’s outfit wins!
Over here the sky is gray day in day out. Only when I have to work the sun comes out to make me crave for a good long ride.
Well, at least it’s dry so I guess I’ll go for a little ride today.
I wish I had my geared 26er back by now. Then I could ride the mtb trails around here again. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to be very patient once again… Maybe Florian will engrave my name on that hub for free as well, then.
@turtle: That must be great fun to see your son developing his muni skills.
I went for a little ride on the 36er today. It was supposed to be a full length marathon training. But the conditions turned out to be too icy and windy for that. So I had to ride slowly in low gear a lot. It was a good workout anyways.
By the way I saw 41km/h on my display for the first time ever during a slight downhill on clean and dry pavement. Interesting…
Epic nonetheless.
Great picture!
