Pictures of your latest ride continued

I’d expect that to be 3 degrees Celsius, if it was Fahrenheit there would surely be frosts visible?
Btw, we don’t get 3°C here where I live in Sydney except maybe in middle of the night up to no more than 7 days a year.

I mean Celsius. It goes for me in a long trowers and a Pulli. Manny People said it’s to cold if they see me in , mostly, a short trowers by this cold wether like 3 Degrees Celsius.

Hi
Some of you may remember
start of october we had RTB - a unicyling meeting in Germany in Ütztal (which does not exist) but it was some Kilometers outside Berlin.
If some of you don’t know about RTB there is a lot info in the German part of this forum.
Enjoy

Saying goodbye to the liquid lake overnight.
I paddled in yesterday on the completely unfrozen lake and set up camp and then rode home for dinner.
After coffee (everything’s after coffee) I rode back out and enjoyed the hot fire and shooting stars for the evening.
I heard the ice pinging and groaning through the night but didn’t believe the lake could freeze that fast so I thought I was hearing things.
Woke up this morning and this is what was happening.

Omg your trip out sounds absolutely amazing and beats anything I can achieve over here in the UK :united_kingdom:

Honestly it’s stuff like this is part of why I love living in Canada. We have tons of nature like this that is usually within a 2-5 hour drive of most cites and there’s a large amount of greenspace to explore. Benefits of our country being big.

Also we don’t have rain year round, and riding in snow is extremely fun as you have a cushion to try stupid stuff on for muni.

Living in western Washington, that rain really does get old this time of year. It seems like 5 months of rain, dark and temperatures too cold to be pleasant but not cold enough to freeze. Fortunately, today it’s beautiful outside and I’m planning on a long ride at a nearby mountain bike park.

One nice thing about this time of year is that you can armor up like Robocop and not get too hot.

That canoe uni trip looks like lots of fun!

Today was fun day.
After the icy campout we went to the neighbouring town of Houston and it must have been a balmy 10c in the sun. Here’s the view of Houston from Mnt. Harry Davis.

Then we got home with just enough time for another ride on our trails.

Just over three weeks since breaking my arm in a ridiculous fall, I was back on my 26er this morning for an hour’s ride along the beachfront promenade. I took it very easy to make sure I didn’t do anything stupid like hurt my arm some more, and I really enjoyed the ride.

I rode just over 9ks in the time and felt quite satisfied with that. At the end of the day my arm isn’t 100% healed yet so it’s worth taking things cautiously.

It felt good to be riding again!

Today’s ride was on my training bike.
On our local trails the ground frost is heaving the dirt so much that It smooths out the trail as the rocks sink down 1"-2". (actually the dirt is rising but it gives the illusion that the rocks have sunken)

As you ride, your wheels occasionally break through the frosty dirt when it gets too airy.
So me on the unicycle is too dangerous as the probability of a fall is high.

So I figured I’d take this opportunity to factually correct a couple of local bike trail signs.

I rode my 36er this morning for the first time in over a month and it felt great to be back on it.
My confidence is still a bit low since breaking my arm almost 4 weeks ago so I took it easy and only rode for an hour, but I know I’ll be back to riding longer distances with more confidence fairly soon.

It was a privilege to watch the sunrise over the Hotties mountains this morning

Selfie time…

Nice photos. what or who is this statue?

I’ve no idea, but I’ll have a look next time I’m there.

Great photos Dino! You’re really making me want to build my NightRider frame into a 36er. I mean really - I am tempted whenever I see this style 36er. Just seems the nicest set up around. Steel is Real, and all that!

Hope your full riding confidence comes back. I had my second 36er ride last weekend after a 3 year hiatus and I was thinking - why did I ever stop riding this wonder Big Wheel! :star_struck:

Riding the 36" is an amazing and unique feeling. The 29" is nice, but just not the same, I think.
