First ride with a studded tire in the snow! We have about 15 cm so far (6”). It’s still coming down, with estimates of 35-42 cm total (13.5-16.5”). I wanted to make it out to my local trail but the roads are a mess, so I just rode in the street outside my house for a half hour.
The tire is the Schwalbe Marathon Winter Plus, can recommend. I don’t really have the leg strength to get this 26” moving up our road’s slight incline; a couple pedal strokes at at time. Level and downhill worked pretty well. It took all my balance, it’s still slick - but the tire’s improved traction is definitely noticeable. With some more practice I’m sure I can make a better go of it on this tire.
I noticed the position of your touring bar grips. I have mine in the same position on my 26er. My thumbs fit that flat spot perfectly. I noticed a lot of riders ride with them reversed. I was starting to think I was crazy using them that way.
Thanks. Yeah it is great but i rhink it will better work with a Carbon Seattle than it is Stifter than with the normal Plastic Seattle. My Bar is very heavy, 0,5 kg.
Not much but I dug the trials out, put pedals back on, and did a little hopping practice in my driveway. I did side and rolling hops both onto and over the brick. I was jumping to the center of the wheel and then off. My jumping skills aren’t where I want them to be as I don’t ride near as much as I should. Unicycle skills will be something I’m going to work on more going forward along with improving several other aspects of my life. So far I’ve been making good progress and am both optimistic and determined for this year.
My inner thighs are sore from being rubbed by the stitching of the seat on my trials yesterday so I just took a nice easy ride on my 24 today. I got to see a few dogs trying to catch their owner’s drone with no luck. Then I spent some time on a skinny I’ve ridden many times before. It really showed how little I’ve been riding since it took me 20-30 minutes before I completed the full length of it. I rode halves of it many times but only completed the full length twice today. I finished once from each end.
On my way home I had to wait for the train when I realised that I had full armor available …so I finally tried and rode down a 3 step stair. First time in my life
My first muni ride of the year. I’m debating whether I should take the 26er out again tomorrow and ride some more technical trails, or if I should do the same or similar route as today on my 29er. I’m going to try to get as much riding in as I can before a muni weekend next week.
Story Time: I was riding the Muni and did a frontflip, unfortunately my unicycle got stuck in the tree, but I still managed to get it down safely.
Joking aside, I obviously hung it there for fun. It felt comfortable at 20 degrees Celsius. That was the crazy story from the Unicycle Trip from Yesterday.
