I’m having trouble finding durable and good pedals.
Which pedals (MTB brands) do you use and recommend?
I had a pair of aluminum pedals from “NOW8”, the M46.2, for about four months. I didn’t even ride every weekend, and they’re already done for. They’re completely bent, and both the shop and the manufacturer claim it’s due to “improper use” because I used them on a unicycle.
I’m not a big fan of the relativly large plastic pedals from Kris Holm and QU-AX, because I like thin ones more.
The race face Chester pedals are the standard for me (usually 50€, sometimes as low as 25€). Allow for amazing grip with five ten shoes and so far neither I or my friends have broken them (I’ve bent some similarly prized metal pedals).

I’m not the best rider ofc, but I do not fall that often and I’ll mostly jump off and catch the unicycle. That’s why I’m so stunned that they are bent so much and went back to the shop.
I think DMR Vault is still the go to for long lasting Muni pedals, a bit pricy though.
I have some spank spikes, which I like and they’ve survived my abuse so far. I think price to performance they sit pretty well. The pins are pretty agressive though which I think destroys shoes a bit more quickly.
I also had a lot of problems with pedals in the past. About a year ago, I switched all of my unicycles to Shimano PD-GR500 pedals, which also allow for easy adjustment of the bearing play (something I have already had to do, since pedals are not really designed for riding backwards). Many of the pedals I used in the past eventually ended up with a bent axle or worn-out bearings (even on my freestyle unicycles) because they get heavily abused during jumps. That’s why I really like the durable axle as well as the adjustable pins.
Since many mountain bikes come with these pedals as stock, and riders often replace them with clipless pedals right away, you can usually find them in nearly new condition on the used market for a much lower price. The Shimanon Saint PD-MX80 is also a valid alternative, since it’s nearly the same product just in a slightly different look.
For a ‘budget’ option I’m currently using the Shanmasi tnt pedals from aliexpress and really like them. They are a copy of the deity tmac pedals at around 20% of the price. Now I know I’m happy with the platform shape and size i will buy the deitys when I need to replace them but I didn’t want to spend £120 until I knew if they would work for me!
