That’s sad man he was great!
At least spell his name correctly.
Besides, you’re late with the announcement. We already have an existing thread for music nostalgia and remembrances.
So what song is it you want to hear?
Nessun dorma
Sorry. That link above has nothing to do with the death of anyone. Gonna start another flame war now because I make a thread about the death of Pavarotti? Amazing.
Stop turbo posting and read a little deeper; you will find that it actually has lots do do with death and rememberence of musicians and their music.
And technically, it takes a Reply to the bait to start a flame war. Can you resist?
R.i.p.
MuniAddict,
I am with you here. Pavarotti deserves a thread of his own! This is a sad news though
Like Iron Maiden said…Only the good die young

I didn’t think he was the greatest, or had anything that made him standout, but he was good.
Sucks that he is gone.
While I’m likely to agree that Carerras was arguably the finer technician (of the three, at least) with Domingo a close second, Pavarotti regularly blew them off stage with that undefinable quality of presence.
He was a vocalist, yeah, but he was a showman first.
He could put on a show and make you feel like the only person in the audience.
And he didn’t need to prance about to do that either.
The phrase ‘stand and deliver’ refers.
He could do things with music that music was made to do.
And the lad could sing.
The silence left by his passing will be particularly loud.
Pavarotti was a standout as a person and a performer. He hosted many charity concerts and was active in raising money for charities. He will be missed.
I don’t listen to much opera, but it is sad that someone so talented has died.
Pet Peeve number 371: Inserting feel-good cliches into a sad conversation
Pet Peeve number 371a: Misusing them.
Pavarotti was 71.
John, please don’t pick on Terry. I mean, c’mon.
Here’s a nice article from the BBC with quotes from other musicians.
Okay, that was supposed to be a joke because I was picking on Terry in another thread.
Yes, I caught that. We all know you’re silly and never serious (except, of course, when it comes to safe driving habits).
I know he was 71…this is not too much!
Where did you get those Pet Peeve strings?
Flaviu
71 is by no means young.
I just made them up.
Nothing like a few people bickering in the background to distract one from a great performer. Do you guys even turn off your cell phones during a performance?
Pavarotti – amazing performer. His voice was so effortless at the top of the range, it was mind-boggling. In my mind, he blew all the other tenors off the map.
I remember once hearing him on television from another room without knowing it was him. I heard his high range, and was astounded at how relaxed he was, easeful, liquid. Then I went in and saw that it was Pavarotti.
There’s no need to say that he was a nice guy or that he did charity work. He was/is simply the best tenor.
