over the seas

Hi,

I live in Australia, and want to help change the view of all unicyclist’s being clowns and having ppl hum and doo, doo, dildle, dilde song at me whenever i ride anywhere, i own a 20inch reg. and 5ft, but want to branch out to a larger, meaner looking uni, which i can use for Muni and also for street stuff. I live in Melbourne (for Aussies) and often go to Juggleart, but i feel that i could trash one of there Unis pretty easy and so I’m looking for something a bit more heavy duty. Does anyone know if there is another shop/place in Australia that imports uni, esp. Munis or how much postage and handling is from th U.S. if a buy one from unicyclesource.com.

Also, does anyone know how to convert a myiata seat and seat post bracket to a bike rail type seat post bracket? so i can use my suspension post which i have.

any help would be good.

Tim

Hi

My brother and I are also Melbourne riders (fairly and squarely in the ‘beginner’ category). We tend to ride home from work once or twice a week (CBD to Nth Fitzroy) and ride around the Museum/exhibition gardens on Wednesdays. Weekends is Edinborough Gardens or the tracks out at Heathmont/Boronia.

Drop me a mail and maybe we can get together.

As for importing - I brought stuff in from Unicycle.com and got hit very badly by customs (GST, freight forwarding, and misc. bul&*t taxes). Try Wayne van Wijk at www.jester.com.au, he has looked at bringing in high end stuff.

Hi Tim,

You can use a Wilder rails bracket from unicycle.com to make a miyata (or
carbonfibre) seat compatible with bike rails. Right now they come in one
model, which also allows attachment of a brake lever under the seat. In
future there may be another model made, a lighter weight unit that
doesn’t have the brake attachment function (which isn’t needed for 20"
trials unis).

By the way, my new frame and MUni design was delayed in production for
quite a while but is coming out very soon, I promise! Prototype pictures
of the 24" MUni version are here:

uni is also on the way.
