Otis elevators

Does anybody work for OTIS ???

Me.

Yes. 63,000 people do.

Why do you ask?

My best friend used to live at 34 Gramercy Park where New York City’s oldest elevator is/was. It was an Otis. Back in the '70s it was routinely run by Wayne, the building’s edentulous but pleasant doorman.

otis

I was just curios The company I work for has just been aquired by Otis and I thought it may be fun to figure out the stats.

Cheers

My elevator goes up slowly, and down quickly. Only fits one person plus a couple liters of water. Not OTIS quality, but we’re in the same neighborhood of functionality. Does this count for anything?

The “elevator”, in the building where I had my last job, was manufactured by a company called Schindler.

In English: Schindler’s Lift.

Your lisp is showing. Perhaps you should adjust your dress?

Yes it is.

Anyone want to venture a guess as to what the company’s name was before it was Otis Elevator Company? No fair using Bing or Google, now…

(((Your) (lisp is)) (showing).)
Yes it is.

private joke from hackerdom :sunglasses:

I’m part of an online collaborative art community, http://www.sito.org/. They were originally OTIS and were threatened with a lawsuit, so they changed their name to SITO.

Thats all I got.

I thought it was always named after Elisha Otis, except for that brief period during the antebellum when it was Union Elevator or somesuch. It has been a hell of a long time since I took CT history, however.

More importantly, did OTIS develop elevator music? Otis Redding certainly did not. Perhaps some less talented and more frustrated Otis did the deed. Thoughts? A poll, perhaps?

It most certainly was not Otis Rush either.

It might have been Otis G or Michael Boltis? Neil Sedotis? Barry Manilotis? Jose Feliciotis?

Great movie. I think I’ll see it again!

#1 in elevators. I feel safe in an Otis
UTX – United Technologies owns Otis. They also make jet engines and air conditioners.
