Hey there, I’m planning to get a new Municycle and am considering a 27.5 model. I’m looking at the green-framed Nimbus Oracle (I prefer the colour), which doesn’t come with a disc brake, and I was thinking of transferring the brake components from my current Municycle to save on costs, instead of buying the 27.5 Oracle with the disc brake kit already installed.
Visually, both unicycles look quite similar, except the non-disc version has a longer seat tube compared to the shorter one on the disc brake version. Does this mean the frame without the disc brake is potentially weaker, or is there another trade-off here i’m not considering?
The Oracle (the one with the disc brake), is generally lighter than the Nimbus Muni, and it has a disc brake. If you compare the costs, and look at what the disc brake would cost on its own, the Oracles cost is basically just the Nimbus plus the cost of a disc brake and a lighter frame.
Just had a peek myself as well (The 27.5 Oracle vs 27.5 Racing Green)
Biggest difference other than the lack of a brake on the green Nimbus is that it uses a steel frame rather than the Oracle’s aluminum frame. Other than that it looks like they practically use the same components
the green Nimbus is that it uses a steel frame rather than the Oracle’s aluminum frame
Where did you spot that detail - the only mention of steel on the advert I can see is with relation to spokes and hub?
why don`t you just ask @rogeratunicycledotcom, he is here regulary on the forum.
On the US site,
Racing Green 27.5

Oracle 27.5

In this listing for the same unicycle in blue (EDIT: It’s a 29 inch model but the frame looks like it’s probably a similar series) on the UK site, it’s mentioned to be steel. It appears they probably forgot to add that it’s steel for the racing green colored uni
Yes, the Muni range are steel frames, the Oracle range is Aluminium.

Also, I own a Nimbus 26" Muni, and it is a great unicycle. You may want the better Oracle, but just know that the normal Muni is very good.
