Wonder who was the number 1 poster to rec.sport.unicycling in 2002?
Want to see how much the newsgroup has become busier over the year?
How has the percentage of posts from the forum developed since their
incarnation in March 2001?
And, if you’re in the top-100 posters, find out about your own
posting behaviour.
All this and more to be found at
<www.xs4all.nl/~klaasbil/rsu2002.htm>.
Useless but fun!

Thanks for going to the trouble of compiling and presenting all that data. As I look over it, I see that there are alot of LAME posters out there. How did your ploy to boost your own statistics with the flurries of multiple posts work out for you? I’m thinking of changing my handle to Jagur so that, together, we can dominate this entire newsgroup and HAVE OUR WAY with the rest of you.
I think my numbers would have gone WAY down if they were correlated with significant content. Of course that might have opened up more of the bandwidth to people who might accidentally missspppellll wurds or uthurwize cunfuze the ishues hear.
Excellent stats, Klaas! It’s interesting to see trends in postings, and a definitive answer of how many people are called “uni*”…
When I first started I used the newsgroup, but started using the forum at work because of the lack of a decent news server. However it didn’t take long to change over pretty much completely; I only used the newsgroup when my connection was being slow or something wasn’t working. I did actually do some work, honest…
I don’t frequent many other newsgroups but this one. I’ve read though that this newsgroup is among the most active of other newsgroups. For those who visit others, how does the activity of RSU compare?
I noticed that John Foss just barely missed knocking Klaas out of the #4 spot. However, John switched from using the mailing list to using the forum and his user name changed in the process. If you add his posts from the mailing list and the forum he beats Klaas out of the #4 spot.
Fortunately Phil’s posts under his two user names aren’t enough to knock me out of the #8 spot.
That’s because my words are like sweet music to your ears. When people read them, rather than realize WHO is saying WHAT, they just relax, sit back, and sigh, saying “that’s SO nice. I hope it goes on and on and on.”
>It appears that the top 10 posters are all trending downward towards

Well, you have to keep in mind that the chart gives percentages of the
total number of posts, while the newsgroup traffic intensity has risen
almost two-fold through 2002. I haven’t checked on absolute trends but
overall the top-10 posters may have been quite flat.

Hehe. Not. The multiple posts were due to some failure on the unicyclist.com site. On Usenet, where I have my data from, my posts
were just single.

Anticipating that, Jagur stole a sensitive part of you for his avatar.
I think the two of you should marry.
That’s funny, my posts are single and you should marry?
>a definitive answer of how many people are called “uni*”…
Definitive for 2002, in 2003 we can at least add uni-j to the list.
Also (but besides the point), there are tens of people who are
“uni”.
>I did actually do some work, honest…
Your posting from “work” was apparent from the time (of the day) you
posted. I’ve wondered what kind of work that was…
>For
>those who visit others, how does the activity of RSU compare?
Nothing special. There are loads of newsgroups that are way more
active than rsu. If I were to dictate it though, I wouldn’t want rsu
to become more active.

Barely? With all of his posts added he is not even as much above me as
his mailing list alter ego is below me. BTW John also posted twice as
‘jfoss@unicycling.com’ but that isn’t on the stats page.
Having said that, John was the number one poster in 2001, and as you
may have noticed, based on bytes he was also the number one poster in
2002. It is in no way a shame to be beaten by John Foss!
>One day I’ll be on that!
FYI, you ranked at # 176.

I must thank all of you people on this forum that posts. I have learned many things from all you experienced riders. I have also been encouraged by all the newbies.
