Actually I was the organizer of the dual event in toronto. Here are a
few thoughts:

We always focus on trying to get a fast and flowing course which does
not require any more hopping than absolutely necessary. Hopping looks
bad. Flow is good. Make it more like a north shore section if you go
this route. -
The safety record of dual biketrials has not been great. Ryan Leech
blew his knee in the Revolution dual trial in practice (in 1998). The
braziallian Chris Santos blew his knee at invert 2000 last november, we
had a mild concussion in Toronto, and so on. -
Kris’s jam session concept sounds like the least intimidating idea for
new riders I’ve hear. From experience, I can tell you that at least in
the bike world, making easy sections in regualr trials contests to
attract “normal” riders never seemed to work. Uni may be different,
since uni is generally closer to trials uni than XC is to bike trials.
