There is no Mojave, Utah. There is, however, a Loa.
Maybe you can get some corporate underwriting for the shirt production…just change the wording a bit: “Note the primitive drinking gourd that the unicyclist has to his mouth…this system has since been replaced by the Camelbak brand Hydration System.”
Mia culpa on both counts. I type too fast and my spelling sucks. Thanks for the corrections.
How about:
“This petroglyph found near Moab, Utah illustrates the real reason man invented the wheel.”
Too BC?
I like it…
petroglyph?
Come on were not all rhodes scholars here. You have to remember who’s going to be reading this shirt, its bad enough that most people are going to ask why one wheel. Personally I dont want to have to teach Vocab at the same time.
The first rule of design is to Keep it Simple. I
" Cave drawings from Moab, Utah show the original intentions for the wheel"
I know Moab is a cool place and but its not really essential for the shirt and kind clutters things up. But It doesnt really matter that much to me either way if its in there
Also I would not make the font the center of the shirt, but instead make it smaller and under the logo, which is the focus.
But then again, its not my shirt to design there is only 1 person who took on the effort and time and is going to take the finacial risk in printing the shirts. Its hard to make anything that someone doesnt think there is a better idea for.
Mike
Petroglyph = rock carving, from petro (rock) and glyphe (carving).
You could have a modern rock carving.
The point stands, though, that the style of the drawing clearly suggests great antiquity, so why put all the verbiage in?
Why not:
-
Wording: “Invention of the wheel…”
-
Front panel has man looking at the wheel (no question mark - it spoils the ‘authenticity’ of the picture)
-
back panel, man riding wheel.
OR:
- Wording: “3000 BC”
- Front panel, man looking at wheel (no Q mark).
- Back panel: 2000 AD
- Picture of man riding wheel.
There’s definitely no need for a long sentence.
Lovely picture, lovely idea, though.
Here’s an odd thought - you know how most cave paintings are about hunting, with a few buffalo and deer next to guys with spears? I know it’s non-PETA, but a shirt illustrating a buffalo hunt on unicycles might go well with the caption “The real reason the wheel was invented” It’s a totally different idea from the original so it probably should be a second production run.
Well, however the shirt(s) comes out I want some.
… never design by committee…
Why not just have a rough sketch of one of the guys from B.C. rideing on his BC wheel?
EDIT: Oh wait… copyright infringement. Nevermind
OK, here’s option 1 of 2:
Front: As pictured below
Back: Kokopelli only
(option 2 will be along the lines of Mike Fule’s suggestions)
cyberbellum - I like the buffalo hunt idea, but will put that on hold for now.
