The other day John Childs pointed out that Performance Bicycle was selling Wellgo B-37 pedals for cheap so I ordered a pair. Up until today I’ve been using the cheapest aluminum pedals I could find. They’re the one’s with the raised square bumps that are supposed to help keep your feet from slipping off.
The Wellgo pedals arrived so I put them on and went for a ride this afternoon. Much better! My feet stay put - especially on the down-hill sections. I might have used the lift handle a little less because I didn’t have to keep so much pressure on my feet to keep them from slipping off.
I think for around $25 they are a pretty good deal. Especially since they also have sealed bearings and the pins are replaceable. However, I have practically no experience with different pedals … all I really know is that these are much better than the one I’ve been using.
Those Wellgos look similar to my Man-O-Wars. I’ve been riding with this pair
since January 2002 and they are truly great. Man-O-War photo:
There is a huge different in security from ordinary to nice pedals. Makes
you feel like you’re that much of a better rider! A quality pedal with
sealed bearings for $25 is … an amazing deal! Mine were over double that.

Both the B-37 and B-27 are great pedals. I have the B-37s. They’re currently on my bike (I swap between the platforms and clipless on the bike). These are quality pedals. I paid more than $25 when I got the B-37s.
You aren’t going to find a better sealed bearing platform pedal for under $25(US). The B-37s are even $5 less if you’re a member of team Performance. What a deal! Anyone looking for new muni or Coker pedals shouldn’t pass this deal up (Yo Greg you need some real pedals <g>).
Now if only Performance would carry AtomLab pedals and put them on sale.
I have Wellgo pedals (bright yellow) on my Coker and (deep blue) on the uni.5 SH 29er. I think I bought a third pair for the SH MUni but I can’t find them.
I bought those pedals from MEC about 5 months ago, i rode with them for a while, and really liked them, but then the bearings broke on the left (pedal grab side) pedal. I think these pedals make excellent MUni Pedals but not as good of trials pedals. Good luck with your pedals.
Actually, I just got those pedals from MEC too this past weekend for my 20 inch. I do trials type stuff on the 20 but no pedal grabs so I think they will be perfect for what I do.
I like the bigger platform and the grab is secure but not overly sticky.
I’m getting a set of either the Wellgo b-37’s or the DK Iron Crosses shortly, I’m not the one ordering them so I wont know till I get them as a gift (Xmas Rules), but either way it should be sweet, I have absolutly no traction left on my current pedals.
