New hub for Unis?

Greetings,

I ran across a page that might be of interest to some of you techie types, a
direct-drive muli-geared hub (a la a Sturmey-Archer with cranks attached at
the axle.)

It’s mostly about those two-wheel contraptions, but if you go almost all the
way to the bottom, you’ll find an interesting uni application of his
invention. I think the hub maybe somewhere between the vaporware and the
prototype stage. Of course, he’ll have to get rid of that silly freewheel
stuff to make a good uni.

I heard someone built a uni along these lines using an old three speed hub. Any
info, anyone?

Personally, I would even be interested in a single speed that used a ring and
planet setup to more bigger gear inches from a given wheel.

I thought that a uni might also work with an auto bike type wheel. Since it
changes automatically your wouldn’t have to change gears. You might be able to
go faster also. Chris Cline Uni-Moocow
