Need help logging in to Unicyclist.com

I could ask Gilby about this the next time I see him, but I’m not sure when
that will be…

Okay. I’ve registered a name and a password with unicyclist.com. I log in on
the home page, and then it says that I am “Logged in as (my name).” I click on
“Modify Options,” and I get to the Member Options page. I edit my forums
profile, putting, say, my birthday in, and hit “Submit Modifications.” The
little redirect page comes up, and takes me to the “User Control Panel For (my
name.)” Good so far. Now I go to edit my forums options, and click on “Change
Avatar” down at the bottom. Then a vBulletin Message page ALWAYS comes up that
says:

==========================================
You are not logged in or you do not have permission to access this page. This
could be due to one of several reasons:

  1. You are not logged in. Fill in the form at the bottom of this page and try
    again.
    2.You do not have permission to access the page that you were trying to. Are
    you trying to edit someone else’s post or trying to access administrative
    features? Check that you are allowed to perform this action in the Forum Rules.

  2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account,
    or it may be awaiting activation.
    ==========================================

And no matter what I try, I can’t maintain my logged presence on the site. I
reenter my info on the login form that comes with the above message, and get
the same message again. Anything I do on the Edit Options page takes me to the
same place; not logged in. Can anyone tell me what I need to do?

I have all cookies turned on, and am allowing scripts etc. to run. I have tried
checking the “Remember Me” box, and leaving it blank.

Thanks.

I can imagine it is frustrating for you Icky Slug, I had a similar thing happen to me when I did not tick Automatically login when you return to the site (uses cookies) and Browse board with cookies (in the Edit options screen). Each time I tried to post a message, it would say I wasn’t logged in even though I had already logged in, then I would log in and the message was gone. If you already have those things ticked, then you could check your internet security settings in Control panel. I don’t know about on newer operating systems, but on 98 you can allow certain sites to use Cookies regardless of your other settings. It’s worth a try. Once the cookies are working you never have to sign in again for the forums, just be careful if you use other peoples computers.

That’s The exactly question of what I was originally going to say Rowan. Thanks. In Windows 98SE with IE5.5 and 6 if you go to “Tools” then go to “Internet Options” Then Click on the Tabs of “Privacy” then Click “Edit”. Then Click on what site you have to remove or leave alone. Once done that click “OK”. That’s all and you won’t have any problems. Mine is clean and there’s nothing in there. I leave mine Blank. Hope you found luck Icky Slug. And Rowan Thanks.

David

You’re welcome, you’re welcome, you’re welcome etc…
I hope that did the trick for you Joe. My privacy settings are on Medium, and I have previously had the custom list blank and had no trouble with it. I clicked edit, and put allow http://www.unicyclist.com/forums in as an experiment, and it shortened it to Unicyclist.com automatically, presumably allowing cookies on any Unicyclist.com pages. This feature might be useful if you have block all cookies or high security selected.

I am not quite sure what you mean by this David, I am guessing it’s something along the lines of “You took the words out of my mouth”.

That’s Right Rowan.

This is a test…

If this appears as a reply, then apparently the forums are working for me. Let’s see…
