naming your unicycle.

Ignore this…I was asking for a picture, when he’d already posted a link.

My BMX, which now sees very little use having destroyed its rear hub doing grinds ( I never have that problem on my uni…) was called Punk, as it looked pretty street and 'ard. So when i got my Uni, me and my mate decided to name our unis after the now pretty much deceased Punk, so my 20" uni is called Unk, and his uni is called Pu, or as i prefer, Poo.

after a lifetime of naming my cars (janis, bobbi, gabriella and jim - if u must know) i was rather taken aback to realise that i had given not one moments thought to a name for my trusty uni
after reading thru this forum i decided to use a name i was saving for my next dog
i’m using it since it is unlikely that i’ll ever be in a position to own this dog
henceforth, may the world rejoice in the knowledge that my machine shall be named…Mjollnir:o

The first unicycle I named was my Coker which I called the Big Boy because it was a big boy.

The second one that I named was the uni.5 for reasons discussed in prior threads.

Number three to be dubbed was the giraffe which I call the Camelopard because it is.

The remaining four are all named unijess as a reminder that they still need monikers.

Yes, when it has air in the tire.

Several of the items on the cycle got destroyed over the many parades and
shows it was in. The hood ornament, a little bird meant to attach to the
front fender (yes, from a Schwinn shop!), had both of his little wings
broken. The turn signals (bike turn signals from K-mart) had died and gotten
broken, so that was removed but the wires were still there (leading to the
switch, under the seat). One of the two safety flags had broken off so now
there’s only one.

It would be really hard to duplicate all of this on a Coker, for two
reasons:

  1. Much of this stuff no longer exists. The original setup of the Excessory
Cycle, as seen in the picture on my Web site
(http://www.unicycling.com/garage/special.htm), had just over $100 worth of
accessories on it. These days, you might pay $100 each for some of that
stuff. Sure, it’ll be higher quality stuff, but the Excessory Cycle
represents a different era in American cycling.

  2. The fender is an important part of the ability to attach all that stuff.
Another bunch of it attaches to the luggage rack. Good luck with either of
those. And then a Coker doesn’t have as much seat post, which is where you
put things to fit them between your legs. The Coker doesn’t even have a wide
wheel, so there’s not that much room to cram stuff inside it. But plenty of
    room for reflectors!

Over the years, the cycle has gotten rust, corrosion, dust, and other wear &
tear on it. So right now all the little pieces are in a box, and the big
pieces are on a shelf. If I get the time, I want to clean them all up
individually, and try to get the thing back together. I was wise enough to
take a bunch of pictures of the cycle before taking it apart. Half the stuff
on there had to be customized to get it to fit, and the cycle’s forks and
fender have lots of holes drilled in them.

Sorry I don’t have anything posted. The “saddle bag” on the Excessory Cycle
is a little thing under the seat. I don’t know if I should try to replace
it, or put the same one back on. It seems to be made of some type of sturdy
cardboard or something. But it’s old and crusty now… It’s all cut up to
fit the Rrraw Power noisemaker inside, and an electric horn on the back.

There was a unicycle with panniers (side bags) pictured on the cover of On
One Wheel in 1984. It was being powered by Pietro Biondo on his 10,000 mile
trip around North America. He had a short giraffe with 24" or 26" wheel,
panniers down below (so there was no weight on his back/crotch), and a spare
tire laying on top of that. A nice rig!

The Excessory Cycle is now my wallpaper. Very cool.

A luggage rack for a Coker would definitely be a custom item, yah. On the
other hand, the Coker Monster Cruiser has fenders for 36" wheels…

Very, very cool.

you can fit a seatpost mount luggage rack to a coker, I think someone from
Italy or Spain posted saying they’d used one with a tent on it for coker
touring.

Ah, yes, it’s all coming together now.

Saddlebag ideas, anyone?

My New muni has been dub’d (mostly by the guys at the bike shop I work at) "The Unstopable Killing Machine)

I’ve just received my new Muni (Max Traction, from Unicycle.com) and when I’ve seen the wheel I said: Welcome, TRACTOR

My new uni has a name…Diet Coker. I bought the uni for a reason. If you’ve seen my picture in the gallery, it’s completely understandable.

Bruce

My friends named his Victoria
Other Friend, Veronica
Me, Velma II
(Velma was already taken)

I call my 26 MUni ‘one-y’ (rhymes with money, no pun intended)

I hate to say it, but my first uni, a 20" that I got because I had no idea about unicycling-it was the result of this deadly combination…seeing Kris on Ripley’s believe it or not + having the internet…an impulse buyer’s nightmare-I have not named.

Hmmm

I got it.

Bike.5

welcome to the family, Bike.5

uni names

I named my 24 inch torker “Baxter”
I just ordered my 24 inch yuni but i think i have decided on its name being “Clarisse”
ill have to ride it first
Sometimes i call the torker “Rackster” in moments of anguish, and maybe a few other words that dont need mentioning

Obviously not Cokers, or the names would be more like:

Velociraptor.

One-y died, I sold bike.5, now where we at?

Coker…Cokey
24" MUni…David Putty
20" Trials…Ooter

My First Unicycle which was the 24" chrome torker which my dad bought off ebay to give me for my 18th birthday. I too suffered because of my total lack of knowlege of unicycling and unicycles. Had i the foresight i would have asked for a KH20 trials uni but too late huh?

Anyway i named my 24" chrome torker Sir Crash-a-Lot because Due to it being my first uni, i crashed alot. Now he’s got a blue KH saddle, 4" cranks, Odyssey Twisted PC Platform pedals, Schwinn whitewall tire, and some flame decals i found that run up the frame. So yeah, it’s a pretty ugly unicycle but it’s also pretty fast. I’ve also called him “you-old-Jackrabbit-You” do to it being a fast unicycle. But the name i gave to him before the short cranks stuck.

Then i got a Summit, ordered by myself from unicycle.com. The first day i took it out for a ride was the first time i stuck a crank grab. I named him Captain Crank-Grab because that was a big goal i wanted to get. Still i have to admit that is a prety stupid name, but it also just kinda stuck.

I’m beginning to think of a good name for my giraffe uni i’m planning on getting for christmas
