My new frame: Titanium by Flansberrium

These are bike cranks – the ‘pipe’ is the crankset spindle that goes through your bike’s bottom bracket. They are meant for use with a spiderless chain ring.

That may be a paint finish on those, it doesn’t say it is anodised, it is purely for looks.

Price of a set of titanium ISIS cranks = ‘a lot’

The press release 2019 says it`s anodised. And at the end you can see the price (in 2019)

Well yes, that is a lot… but they have sold out.

Also Setonix, maybe getting Ti cranks in ISIS might be a problem as (as far as I remember) the crank interface is supposed to deform onto the taper, and perhaps broaching an ISIS interface in titanium might be difficult – but I’m just guessing…. So you might need to splash out on a new wheel with a KH/Qu-ax hub too.

Yeah ok, if they market it like this, I reckon they could have asked for even more than 1100 $. Cranks for the elite.
I wouldn’t say that I wouldn’t buy them. At some point I also got the Schlumpf geared hub + KH 26 for more than 2000 EUR, though a geared hub at least has some function.

can we please come back to the topic and the beautiful frame, thanks!

I will post later this week the whole built with all the parts

Yes we can get back to the Flansberrium frame, but with the anodization right? It will look kick-ass. What does the frame sell for?

And as to your answer about the release clamps for the wheel bearing mounts, Are they just as rock solid as the typical split collar with screws?

You’re right, we are flooding your subject with that, could an admin split the subject to separate what is about this beautiful frame and titanium anodizing ?

Yes, sorry, it is indeed a beautiful frame and impressive riding in a spectacular area…. things do tend to go off on tangets though.

Other than for anodizing them, having the lower part in Titanium only costs more to produce. I keep the lowers in aluminium unless someone really really really wants Ti. Having the lower parts in Titanium would probably bump up the price by about 200$ (final frame price coming soon!), for a part that does not add any performance or even lower the weight.

In theory yes. It may happen in the future. I have other projects to work on before I get to Ti cranks

It’s really for the cool factor

Price for Ti cranks will be out when the cranks are out, which may or may not happen. But to give a rough idea, a block of Ti big enough to make a pair 125mm cranks would cost about 450$ CAD, and that’s just a rectangular block with nothing but a saw cut on each end!

Apparently Ti is way easier to anodize than aluminium, so I may get into that at some point. For now, hand brushed is the finish I will offer. Price will be up soon, I am finishing my calculations today (hopefully). I will share the link to my website once I finish the page with details and pricing

The caps should only be tightened to about 5-8nm, so they dont need to be bullet proof. When I made the first prototype (out of 6061 aluminium!), I got up to 30nm before it started loosing its shape. That was also after being welded, which made the aluminium softer. The ones on the frame are made with 7005, and also heat treated. So yeah, I think they are rock solid

I’m eager to know the prices, I am having wet dreams with anodized titanium unicycles for road racing… OK, I might be exaggerating a bit, but still.

@jaco_flans, have you seen what Dmitry is doing on his last production at Tritao/Triton with anodizing ?

Here it is

I’m just wondering when they are going to start deporting unicyclists period!

Beautiful ride Markus! I’ve got a few questions about the wheel:

  1. Spokes?
  2. Nipples?
  3. Rim? Carbon, LB, 32mm internal?
  4. Tire? Dissector, 2.4, EXO+, psi/bar?
  5. Tube? Why? (Anti-burpista?)

Thx Markus. Looking forward to Mach 26 on this thing!

Sorry, I don’t know the spokes and nipples, and yes carbon rim LB 32mm, tire: Dissector 2.6, I had some bad experience with tubeless years ago and never went back to it.

There will be no MACH 26 (MACH are the riders MArkus & CHristian, last year ist was MASA: MArkus and SAmuel), CHristian doesn’t ride anymore, not sure who will join me next year
