My dad is missing in the mountains.

My dad is an experienced Mountaineer and he goes on hikes often. They are actually scrambles (for those who don’t know what that is that is where there is no trail and you are supposed to make your own trail and pick your own route.

In any case. He left for a scramble yesterday, alone, and was supposed to be here 14 hours ago and hasn’t showed up yet. We called the Police at 9 last night, and they started searching around 1 AM. They still haven’t found him. (it’s 7:27 AM here)

My mom is on her way right now to give the police a scent so that they can send the canine unit in.

To top it all off… My first day of school starts in an hour…

Your first sentence (above) is the one to keep in mind. When they find him and he’s fine, he will have a story to tell for years and years. Stay positive. He could have just sprained his ankle, which would have slowed him down enough to have to spend the night. Keep us posted. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

The experienced part, the rescue team said, actually worries them more, since there are more severe possibilities for what could have held him up.

On the bright side, he’s probaby better prepared.

I hope they let you use a cell phone at school so you can keep in touch with your mom to get updates.

that sucks im feeling bad for u… stay positive!!!
when my dad was in a coma i didn’t know for like a week of he would die or live but he survived and thank god… hopefully this isn’t as dramatic but im rooting for your dad!
my tip to you: keep going to school dont take days of… after school unicycle or whatever to keep your mind of things

Your dad would want you to keep furthering yourself, not worrying about him. He sounds perfectly capable to me, and furthermore, he sounds like a badass. Good luck to him!

They found him about 2 hours ago.

They found him in a gulley. He fell to his death. :frowning:

They aren’t sure it’s him, but he matched our description. I can’t see it being anyone else.

This sucks.

Listen Pele. My thoughts are with you and your family. I lost my father to a heart attack, and I can only imagine what you are going through. Stay positive, stay close to your family, stay dedicated in school, and you’ll get through it.

I am really sorry Pele. I live like 20000 miels away, so I cant say I can be a near shoulder to lean on, but If you ever need anyone to talk to or anything, i’m always on aim, and you can definately shoot me a PM.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my Dad when I was only a couple of years older than you.

I know it doesn’t change things but I’m sure everyone on this forum from round the world is feeling for you.

Wow…Brother I am sorry there is not much anyone can type on these forums to help to ease your pain…I only got to meet your dad once several days ago I hate to think what your family is going through, I hope it doesn’t affect your sister starting school so far away…
