MUni Weekend information

Hi all,

We’re back from China, and gearing up on MUni Weekend.

CABINS: There are still some spaces left at the cabins. Remember we must fill
the bed spots before we can release the floor spots, otherwise the cabins don’t
get paid for. If you want to stay in the cabins but you’re arriving on Thursday
and/or leaving Sunday, there is the possibility of adding one or both of those
days to one cabin. Let me know and I will add your name to a list, and see if
there are enough people to cover the expenses for those days.

FRIDAY MR. TOAD’S RIDE: Remember, this ride is for in-shape riders only. It’s
only about 10 miles, but the altitude range starts at about 7100’, and goes up
to 8900’. That’s about 1800’ of climbing, at well over a mile above sea level.
Also the downhill portion of the trail (down to about 6400’) is highly
technical in spots.

SATURDAY COMPETITIONS: We are working with the folks at Northstar on working out
a possible Trials course or other competition spot. But they don’t seem to have
the resources they had when we were there in 1997, so the dual slalom and other
events may be out. We’re still working on this.

SUNDAY OPTIONAL RIDE(S): The “expert” ride may not occur, as after two full
days of riding, a very long ride at even higher altitudes may be too much to
attract many riders. The Flume Trail, which is the main event for that day, is
still about 14 miles, at up to 7800’, so that should be plenty. For riders who
are not up to that, there will be riding at Spooner Lake (where we start for
the Flume Trail), and possibly elsewhere. Or you can spend a relaxing day at
the Ponderosa Ranch.

Read all about it at the web site: www.unicycling.com/muni/muni2000 and don’t
hesitate to contact me with your questions if you still have some after reading
the site. You can also call:

Hope to see you there! Riders from as far away as England, Florida, New Jersey,
and elsewhere are coming!

This American passion to talk about time in terms of days of the week drives me
nuts sometimes. I have no idea what dates you have in mind. There is a chance
I’ll in the Bay area soon and I’d like to join…
