MUNI article in a French Mountain Bike magazine

Just to let you know that this month “Velo Vert”, a French Mountain bike magazine has a full and positive article on MUNI cycling!

“Mountain-unicycle, une moitié de vélo, mais la meilleure !”

Enjoy

Francois

PS, here’s there web site:

although you won’t find unicycle related stuff on their site.

It is very well written.
The author was at a Muni & Basketbal meeting last November in South
France.

cool pics. by the way, what is that uni with the yellow velo seat and the yellow hub? i saw 3 or 4 throughout the pictures.

Re: MUNI article in a French Mountain Bike magazine

How come there isn’t a French term for “mountain unicycle?” I thought the French tried to avoid using foreign terms.

Re: Re: MUNI article in a French Mountain Bike magazine

They do have a term MTT, it is widely used. Muni and trails is becoming massive in France.

Nice picture of Yoggi and his van in the picture with the author.

Roger

It is the Qu-ax trails unicycle.

Re: Re: Re: MUNI article in a French Mountain Bike magazine

Roger; my French is non-existent: What does MTT stand for? (just curious)

of course! i knew it but could not remember what it was. it was one of those things that haunts you throughout the entire day…

Re: Re: Re: Re: MUNI article in a French Mountain Bike magazine

I suspect it stands for “Monocycle Tout Terrain” or all terrain unicycle to you.

I was in Paris before Christmas and I saw about 12 unicyclists in a big group randomly riding past, mostly on trials unis. It was pretty bizarre, especially because I was somewhat drunk. I suspect it was something to do with the big tuesday night juggling meetup that they have.

Those who followed the Thierry Bouché linked I indicated yesterday will get the answer.

Wether you are drunk or not, anyhow there is a meeting every Tuesday evening, and a random trip leaves the Forum des Halles around 8 PM.

Re: Re: MUNI article in a French Mountain Bike magazine

Cool. Do you usually get a good group then?

I did try to say hello, but you guys were all riding fast and ignoring everything anyone was shouting, can’t really blame you.

I was kind of considering coming over to Paris for a Tuesday to Saturday and doing unicycling and stuff on the tuesday and the rollerskate on the Friday, although I’d need to get skating practice in because it sounds faster than the London ones.

Re: MUNI article in a French Mountain Bike magazine

Well, I admit I don’t know: I don’t usually take part since the trip far exceeds my poor unicycling ability, and it is a bit too far from home.

You could come and play Basketball on Monday evening at Haut-les-Mains. Easily reachable from Paris by train. There shall be a map and more information on http://www.haut-les-mains.org/ when I am finished writing the new website in an unforeseable future (at least a couple of weeks).

There is a slower and cooler skating event in Paris every sunday afternoon (if the weather permits), requiring no particular ability. Information on http://www.rollers-coquillages.org/.

if you intend to go for the woods contact me
(though I do not ride yet -I am on a 6 months leave due to a severed
achille’s tendon-)
there is a small group that haunts the bois de clamart very near Paris
if you come I’ll ask the other guys from “haut-les-mains” to come
I can even lend you one of my unis …

Even if most of French people use MTT,
MTT is a registred trademark (by Thierry Bouché), that is why!!

Since it’s winter, they may not be so many, (around 5 they told me, but it depends, they were supposed to be 7 yersterday)

I used to go , but I’ve moved
