More one-foot wheel walk

I’m back asking more advice with the one-foot wheel walk and glide. I
have become rather proficient at ofww… broke the 30m mark, and hit the
3m mark at gliding. Now I’m in a rut… I glide for a meter or so, and
then I slow to a complete stop and have to push again. Are there any tips
for reducing the pressure of my foot on the tire so I can glide for a
longer distance? Or do I just need to practice more (probably). I even
tried a steeper slope, and I still stopped myself. Maybe I’m just scared.
Thanks for help!

<snip> Sorry I don’t have the advice you ask. Just wondering at your “I’m
back”. I think I have saved all (non-spam) messages in this group for more
than a year but did not find an earlier occurrence of Atherton. It may not
be that important but did I miss anything?

This time I just posted under usenet rather than through unicyclist.com… you’ll recognize me now I’m sure… you even replied to some of my posts…

Thanks for clarifying. I do “recognize” you now. You know, most posters
here have no face for me so it’s difficult to remember everyone by just a
string of characters…

Hey,

You might try leaning forward a little more. I always put the most pressure on the tire when I’m starting to fall backwards. I think when people coast they lean further forward.

You might also try transitioning from riding one footed to glide if you are on fairly level ground. You get more speed that way and the amount of pressure on the tire isn’t as critical. When you start out slow, like with ofww, you need to have a lot more control of your foot.

Good Luck,
