Monocycles on another ng

There’s currently a thread on alt.rec.bicycles.recumbent about monocycles,
headed “One-wheel bike”, started when someone posted the url
http://www.cnn.com/resources/potd/2000/11/13/

If anyone has actually ridden a monocycle (ISTR there have been posts here in
the past about just such an experience), I think the guys over on arbr would be
interested in your input.

Something I didn’t check when we were there. Do the things have brakes? What
happens if you get going down a hill?

Maybe 10 minutes total practice, maybe 30’ with my feet up

Re: Monocycles on another ng

There was an article in a Newcastle local paper (Metro) last week about the
Chinese Monocycles. The picture is the same as the one on the website and they
claimed that they were available in the UK for £250. I am of course trying to
find out where! Anyone got any ideas?

Roger

Re: Monocycles on another ng

These are obviously the sma one that the guy had at Unicon. I know that a few
people bought them and had trouble gettting them home. Very difficult to ride.
Once he get tilted a little you’re done for.

I know that the Abrahams bought one. Four persons from Puerto Rico bought them.
After lots of insisting with the airline agents at every city that they stopped,
they got to their new home. They are difficult to ride, specially to get going.
Alfredo Martinez seems to be the best. His son (about 10) also learned.
