Looking for a unicycle instructor: NYC

Hello! I’m in Jersey City; NJ I’m looking for an instructor to help me get started. I can travel into NYC other parts of NJ, if required. Any and all recommendations appreciated.

If you aren’t able to find an instructor, I’m getting started myself and have found a lot of helpful videos on youtube. Specifically “PrettyGoodChannel,” and “Hobo Dan.” I’m sure there are a lot of other resources that I missed, and lots of the folks here have helped me without knowing it - as I have been reading a lot of the content here …

Good luck finding an instructor though, that always seems like a better deal.

Thanks for your response. I’ve looked at some videos; they all make it look so easy! I will check the two you mention above. I’m in the NYC metro area (where are you?) and I’ll keep looking for an instructor.

Specifically “PrettyGoodChannel,”

This was pretty much my main resource when I was learning As well as a bunch of other videos from other creators too, but I liked how PrettyGoodChannel structured the learning process. I had nobody in-person to teach me, so YouTube and this forum were a valuable source of info

Other resources you could look for are unicycling clubs. They would probably be more than happy to teach new riders. Some juggling or circus clubs might teach unicycling as well

I’m not officially an “instructor”, but I live in NYC and I’d be happy to try my best to give you as much help as I possibly can to get you riding. I’m on the upper east side of Manhattan. There are a few good spots for learning in and near my neighborhood.

I worked in NYC a decade ago and there were regular meetings at the General Grant National Memorial
I don’t know if it still happens, it was run by the local club - which also organises the Labor Day ride to Coney Island and the Governor’s Island event.
