Lengthening a seatpost

If you need a longer seat post and are unable to find a new one from any supplier as I was, this is one way of solving the problem. If you have a few tools it is pretty easy to do.

How to replace a short seat post with a longer bicycle post.Something to that effect.

Which is the only thing I wanted to see.
I welded an extra section onto a post one time. That’s why I was curious what technique you used.

My curiosity is why not just buy the longer unicycle post?

@Bug72 I was wondering the same thing. It might be handy if you are 7 feet tall and want to ride a 20”…

No supplier in South Africa or the UK had an adjustable 27.2 mm in stock. It also worked out cheaper.

There are some other bicycle seatposts whichs bottom parts fit the top part of the KH adjustable seatpost.

Correct. Unfortunately, I only discovered that about two weeks afterwards. But would still do it again given the choice.

i’d have probably used the other end of the original longer tube, with the idea if enough length was left, you’d have a spare (if short) seatpost with seat mount … no big deal though
