I need some help quick if it’s available. I’m at the bike shop getting a brand new brake lever/caliper set and it looks like the technician installed a right/front caliper and lever. Should it be a front/left set? I’m right handed.
From the brief research I did, I don’t think it matters.
You can change which sides the brake disc is on, but again, whichever side you prefer is up to you.
It generally makes only a slight difference.
I’m not exactly sure, but it depends on how you mount your lever and the brake model. If you mount it on the “mini handle” under the seat, then often the brake lever is mounted close to straight, so it doesn’t matter.
However, some people rotate it a bit one way or the other, especially if you have a special mount like an Ursli bar or Mad4One Saddle Handle. But then it also depdends on the brake model, as some are more or less “symmetric” with regards to the reservoir. I’m right handed and usually rotate mine to the left. On my Ursli bar I mount my left/front lever on the right side and rotate it about 40 degrees left, so the reservoir doesn’t prevent rotating and would allow more up to maybe 70 degrees (the other right lever would be max about 35 degrees). But it usually doesn’t make a big difference, but left for a right hander is generally a bit more optimal.
