Don’t take anything he says as gospel truth, those videos aren’t the best.

Yeah. Go ahead and watch the videos if you want, but watch others too and compare. With juggling, anyway, expert village tended to be inferior to just regular guys (it’s usually guys) putting tutorials up on youtube. Unicycling appears to be the same way. But that’s just my opinion. I get a similar vibe from ehow. Not that I particularly want to trash talk people who are apparently trying to be helpful, but those two particular implementations don’t seem to be doing it right in one way or another.
Sage advise, just be sure to compare.
Hi Guys.
Welcome to the forum Batou ![]()
Sounds like you’re going great guns ![]()
There are heaps of videos on youtube, you can spend hours watching them ![]()
Lol, and even more importantly there are heaps of Unicycling videos too.
I lolled at that. Yes there are.

Welcome Batou
I too recently learned to ride unassisted (still need assistance mounting) and can remember trying to just sit on the Uni thinking “I’m never going to be able to ride this I can’t even sit on it”. That part goes pretty fast with purposeful practice.
I am waiting for that moment when it feels like the Uni is just an extension of my body and I can just think what I want to do and the body and Uni react! It’s probably many Moons away but riding is so much fun after you can stay on long enough to try something other than just staying upright. :D:D
Good luck on your Journey! Keep us posted, I love reading about how other people learn!
Hi there everybody!
After about a month of not riding (3cm cut on the shin, right over the shinbone, about one palm below the knee. Clean cut down to the periosteum) i’m finally riding again.
And the first thing i tried was my shiny new 36".
All in all i rode about 5 km yesterday evening and the evening before and also managed to freemount several times. Still need to become more confident before really riding in the public or offroad, but so far things feel great and better everytime i ride.
Greetings to everyone, hope you all have a good time.

Hi Byc ![]()
Glad to hear you’re on the mend.
Congratulations on the shiny new 36" ![]()

Well Done on the freemounting as well.
Hey
I got a 100% 6/6 of my free mounts this morning on my 29!!(not likely to be on a 36 any time soon) OK, I do start the morning using a rail, I gave up trying to get a nice mount first thing and really don’t give a stuff about it..
I warm up with the ride down to where I cross the road about 5 minutes away, why beat myself up over the first start?
Anyway I rode down to Suncheon Bay, about 13km away nd back again. Took me 2:40… only 1:05 to get down there but I started to feel a bit weary at 2 hours
After that it was all trying not to upd or just plain wobble off the path
4 of the remounts were on the way back so I’m feeling quite pleased. Have been having probs with mounting all year for some reason…
A good morning. Riding for two and a half hours is a lot harder for me than running a lot further :o
Update on learning
I’m taking a rather unplanned break from learning, as I’ve sprained my ankle.
I fell off while attempting to ride from one side of the fence to the other, and I did the worst thing possible while falling, I tried to stop it, managed to twist and sprain my ankle . It turned and I came down on it - hear a nice pop sound, like your nuckles make when you crack them ! Scared the heck out of me, but nothing’s broken , and it’s not like this is the first sprain I’ve ever gotten, so once healed, I’m back up and riding again
Untill then, I’ll check out the photo’s of everyone else’s rides to keep me motivasted!
Now that this Uni’s thrown me hard, I’m REALLY driven to master it !
Ouch Batou
Hope you heal well and quickly.
HeyKR
Well Done on nailing the freemounts !
Feel for you Batou…
I UPD’ed a couple of weeks back and felt like I’d sprained my neck…it was not a particularly bad off but I just jarred it a bit. Couldn’t ride for 3 or 4 days by which time the pain eased off. Got straight back out there and did the same thing again ![]()
I now seem to have the symptoms of whiplash with really bad headaches when I start unicycling. Gonna take it easy for a week or so and make the most of my new recumbent (tr*ke). One wheel to three…at least I’m remaining decidedly odd.
By the way krjames, good effort with the free mounting. I still suck for the first 5 minutes but then seem to get into the swing of it. I just wish I didn’t UPD quite so often ![]()

Swede-O
I appreciate that.
I’ll be back in the saddle soon! I’ve got some Swede-O’s on the way (I should have had those to begin with ) They’ll be part of my gear from now on ! ![]()
The first month of unicycling is equal parts learning how to ride and learning how to fall off. It won’t always be this dangerous. Don’t give up. Heal fast my friend.

First day on a 36r…
This was the first day on a 36r. Was trying out JigyWigy’s 36r and it gave me the itch to buy one someday. I was surprised that I was able to free mount it in such a short time. Check out the video…

What cranks are you using jyngles?
84.7’s are the best.
