You might have heard about backyard ultras, Last Man Standing, Last Man Riding and similar events.
In may, the NCMTB (mountain bike club with a unicycle section) organizes the Last Man Muniing. The idea is very similar to that, but made for and by unicyclists.
If you are not familiar with the concept, I will explain it to you. You have one loop to lap on your unicycle, and one hour to do so. If you can do it, congratulations! You can wait for the other contestants finishing the loop under one hour, and then… start over. If you finish the second loop in under an hour, congratulations! You can wait for the other contestants, and start over, and over, and over again, until one rider is the only one doing a loop in under an hour (or 12 loops total, for safety reasons).
You might tell me that going to Cherbourg just for riding 12 hours max isn’t exactly worth it, and you would be right. That’s why on may 15th (friday), we will take you on our training roads and woods. We will also very likely take you on rides the thursday ans sunday.
You might now tell us that it is probably very expensive, and… well… NO. The registration costs 20€ until january 31st (my bad for not speaking about it on here beforehand), and 25€ after. The city offers us a camping ground with showers and toilets for free, 500 m away from the competition’s center. The total budget for somebody coming would then be : 20€ + 15€ for the saturday’s evening meal + your meals for the other days + transportation from your place to France (for people in England or Ireland, there are ferries in Cherbourg that should be pretty easy to take).
If you are motivated, you can register on :
https://www.helloasso.com/associations/nord-cotentin-mountain-bike/evenements/last-man-muniing-2026
It is in French, please do not hesitate to send me a message if you have any question.
You will also need to be registered to the french federation, for insurance reasons.
