Carbon durabilityā¦
As a whitewater kayaker, I have paddled quite a few carbon fiber paddles. Whitewater paddles take a beating against rocks all day long, I have snapped some of my paddles but that was due to manufacturing and designing problems usually fixed in the next batch.
My current carbon paddle is going on 3 years of LOTS of abuse and holding strong; it can be done but they have to be made well and prototyped/tested by those who will abuse the crap out of them. Are they going to be more durable that steel⦠no; aluminum? Some might argue this, probably notā¦
Light as hell, stiff and responsive, absolutely ![]()
uni neophyte here, but carbon sounds scary for a unicycle. a good bang off a rock will chip a carbon frame, but leave it looking sound otherwise. things seem good, until you stress the frame, and discover that that nick is but the head of a structural crack that has effectively turned your turgid frame into a fragile, yet stiff, ticking time bomb.
Iāve seen a an xc carbon handlebar give out, and the result was not pretty. long story short, anything but virgin carbon scares me to death
yes, look nice and maybe donāt broke⦠but why carbon frame if (for example impact and kris holm) aluminium frame are ligtherā¦???
and is obvious carbon is less strongerā¦
![]()
its lighterā¦
I think carbon is 530g
and impact is 608g
KH is 560g
and it looks nice ^^
Carbon is pimp though! same for titanium, you dont buy the frame because itās lighter, i think the original triton spongeās were only a few grams lighter than the KH frames ![]()
tim, are your weights without bearing holders? the weights I have areā¦
KH - ~640g
Impact gravity shortneck 580g
Impact gravity longneck 738g
with I think..
I got it from municycle.com..

ah okay! and what about the weight for your carbon frame?
+1
i would totally ride with a carbon frame just for the looks of it ![]()
i love frames that are different from others just because of the pimp factor haha
imo its ugly lol really ugly but i like the carbon look just not the shape of the kk1 ākarkon konceptā one
I totaly agree on this one! But Iām not sure if I would ride carbon on a unicycle. I would be scared of denting it, because itās not good when thereās a dent in carbon. But carbon looks awesome ![]()
