Re: Juggling clubs while on a unicycle.

Since we are talking about juggling on a unicycle, does anyone have
any advice on how to master juggling clubs while idling. I can juggle
clubs on top of a slack rope and a rolla bolla, and while riding a
unicycle forward, but idling and juggling is very difficult for me.
Occassionally I get 4 or 5 idles while juggling, then I fall off the
unicycle. Any advice on how to learn this trick?

i can’t even juggle with clubs yet! :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Re: Juggling clubs while on a unicycle.

I have been trying to master this pretty much forever. And I’m not anywhere near where I’d like to be.

That said, here’s what I’ve read in other threads on the subject. The key seems to be having a very solid, stable idle. Practice idling so that you are not wobbling at all from side to side. I can say from lots of experience failing at this that my idle is the weak spot (I can juggle 3 clubs til the cows come home) and that this combo does fall apart quickly as a result of falls to the side.

Dave (GILD) and I have an informal race to get to 100 catches while idling. I’ve broken the 50 mark once or twice, but I believe he is way out in front, if he hasn’t already gotten to 100.

Good luck,

I know somebody who can juggle 5 balls and coasting at the same time. I have also heard that he is practising 5 clubs and coasting.

The trick to juggling while idleing is i find, to just concentrate on juggling the pattern straight and to not focus on unicycling that much,
I can juggling while gliding… Coasting hmm nah :stuck_out_tongue:

If you can ride a giraffe, learn your juggling tricks on it first.
Everything is so much slower up there that your leg motions won’t disturb
the pattern as much and you have more time to recover from things.
Then you can transition down to a standard uni and get used to it there.

I find just the opposite. I concentrate almost exclusively on the uni.

I am guessing this is a difference in skill levels: I’ve been fluent and active at juggling clubs for 15 years but the uni is relatively new for me - thus I concentrate on the uni. I’m guessing Trev is better at uni than juggling - thus he concentrates on juggling.

Re: Juggling clubs while on a unicycle.

I learned to idle and juggle on my uni this past summer. I learned
juggling while idling first then moved on to juggling while riding. I
actually rode in a parade this past November - juggling most of the way.
My sons and I can now pass 6 clubs in both 4 and 2 count. Here is a link
to a video of our early club passing on unis:

… As you can see we are still moving quite a bit while idling.

My advice to you is to practice your idle till it is solid (ie. as little
movement as possiblem then start practicing with the clubs. Keep the clubs
close to your body so as to reduce the need to “lean out” to make catches.
Also a faster/shorter idle also helps to allow you to concentrate more on
your juggling.

Hope this helps
