John Sayles movies

Anyone have a favorite John Sayles movie.

By far my favorite is Matewan. Although a bit unsubtle it is beautiful, touching, epic, and viscerally satisfying.

Other favorites include Lianna, [url= ]Passion Fish, The Brother from Another Planet, and, of course, the classic The Return of the Secaucus 7. Oh, and Piranha.

Well, the only ones Iā€™ve seen were Pirahnaā€¦and Alligator.

I have no favourite.

I loved ā€œBrotherā€¦ā€

Is he your favorite director. Personally, I donā€™t think anyone compares to Stanley Kubrick [CLockwork Orange, 2001 space odessey etc] from his first movie in 1957 to Sparticus, which ended blacklisting in Hollywood, because he simply gave everyone credit.

If I can steal this thread, have you seen ā€œMonseur Ibrihimā€?

To paraphrase the poet Kahlil Gibran,

Your posts are not your own.
They are the sons and daughters
of conversations longing for itself.

So, even if I didnā€™t want you to, what chance would I have?

Sayles is high up among my favorite directors. The Coen brothers immediately come to mind as well, and, definitely, Kubrick is in there.

I have not seen Monsieur Ibrahim, but amazingly it was (maybe still is) playing at an ā€œart theaterā€ close to me in suburban New Jersey. Do you recommend it?
