Jack Hughes in Seattle Times Magazine

Good job Jack, you can barely see the wires holding you up. Of coures, the
unicycle feature comes just after the guy having his hair done in the
beauty parlor, but there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

Congrats,

For the rest of us, in case you didn’t read the article it talks
about Jack practicing in downtown Shelton, then goes on to mention
how he crashed into a plate glass store window. So in case anyone
needed a reminder, don’t practice tricks (like learning to ride, if
you can’t already) in front of a plate glass window, especially if
it’s not your window…

Interesting. I’m going to have to ask Jack about how he crashed into a
window next time I see him.

Did you see this in the printed version of the paper or do you do daily
searches of their online archive for the word “unicycle”? When I was going
through the paper today I completely missed the story on Jack. Thanks for
the heads up.

If you asked me to guess which unicyclist had crashed thru a plate glass
window, my first guess would have been Jack Hughes.

Hang in there, Jack! You are too much!

Jack is one of a kind. At NUC he was probably proudly showing off his
battle scars from the run-in with the window and I’ve just forgotten about
it. It would be a good story to hear again.

Anyone who missed the last day of the 2001 NUC in Toronto (Sunday’s MUni
group ride at Dagmar) really missed one of the best days. Jack was
unforgettable. Like his fearless riding, spinning (Carl’s mothers) razor
sharp knife in his fingers to showing us his alien like stomach tricks.
(You had to see them to believe them !) His stories made you laugh so hard
or were so gross you wanted to puke. (Lots of blood and broken bones.) He
has the best “Cross Walk Guy” story I have ever heard.

He sure is a one of a kind guy, who rides one wheel ! Gotta like that !
