If you dig around on the guinness website you’ll find that public opinion seems to have lead the way from the room teperature stout to the chilled draught.
I suspect (and may be wildly out of line here) that the lower temparature has something to do with the gas-mixture used to pour the draught cause I haven’t seen any of the kegs being refrigerated but the pint still is still chilled.

The tricky bit is that those beige-coloured bubbles actually float downwards while it appears that the waves are flowing upwards.
I’m going to have to get you video for this, aren’t I?

Waht I’m looking for is a picture of a full pint of guinness with the surge happening, thinning out and eventually stopping, leaving the pint looking the way it does in that first pic.
The final avatar needs to be 90/90pixels, and not too big, I can’t find a size indicator, but ‘reasonable’, it’s for another forum.

The surge i associate with guiness is the surge of semi-digested food back up my oesophagus, but I expect this isn’t what you were intending to animate.
And wobbling bear, in some pubs they serve guiness both cold, and extra cold, I think it’s some sort of backlash against the ‘british beer is warm piss’ stereotype.

Its 100x75 pixels and the image is 210K in size. Message boards need to allow “remote avatars” before you can use it. I think the avatar size limit here is pretty small, even for remote avatars.
Now a friend of mine made this avatar for me. I know its not exactly what you were looking for, but its pretty close. I was also looking for the avatar with that “Clouds of bubbles” effect but its difficult to make.
I actually register on this forum to give you a copy of this image!

No, you don’t know me at all. I found this message because i was googling for the words “Guinness avatar”.
There is a good story behind this;
I was looking for a Guinness avatar for a long time, but i could never find one. At one stage, i even registered on the guinness.com website and emailed the suggestion to the support staff to see if they would make one that the public could use on message boards. But they never did.

Just a note for the administrator of this forum.
I well understand the issues that surround using animated avatars on forums. I am the administrator on several phpBB forums. The current limit you have here i think is about 19K or something like that. That is quite reasonable for avatars that you guys are hosting here on unicyclist.com to keep control of your bandwidth.
But you also have the ability to enable “Remote avatars” so you guys are not actually hosting the images. Instead the user is linking to an avatar that is hosted somewhere else. This does not use any of your bandwidth for your website. The only issues or debate that surrounds this is;
- How many of your users are on dial up Internet
- What do you guys think is acceptable as regards “Flashy avatars”. Some people get very annoyed with flashy avatars.
But that’s just my thoughts on the topic. I allow animated avatars on all my websites.

Good Guinness avatars are hard to come by. I had to hand edit mine because I wanted a transparent background color surrounding the glass. One of these days I’ll get around to doing a better job.
Here’s a Guinness commercial that would make a perfect animated avatar. I don’t have the software tools to convert the video to an animated gif or I’d do it myself tonight.

You need animation software to change the image. But when we made that avatar, we made several versions of the same one. All these images have different attributes to do with picture quality and image size.
Some of those images have different quality and two of them are smaller than the others.

Aren’t animated avatars (gif) not allowed anymore?
no I didn’t think they were. But John If you wanted to make that vid into an avatar you would need to download it (easy!) then find someone with macromedia flash, because you can copy videos straight into it and it makes it into animation. I would do it for you but I only have flash at school, and have just started my 6 week holiday!
What size do you need?
