I canāt decide whether this forum is pessimistic, realistic, or optimisticā¦
It could be all threeā¦
- Pessimistic, to assume that no current reader of the forum will still be around in 100 yearsā time
- Realistic, to assume that even if they are, they wonāt be using this particular forum software
- Optimistic, to assume that they need to pick a date as far ahead as 100 years to ensure that any remaining elderly unicyclist who had defied clauses 1 and 2 would ever remember which users they had chosen to ignore 100 years before!
A disturbing alternative explanation is that the writers of the forum software actually know the date of The End Of All Things, and it just happened that you tried out the Ignore User option exactly 100 years before that date ![]()
(I am Not going to go away now and try out the āIgnore Userā option for myself to prove/disprove this)
1000 years. I was taking āforeverā as being in the human timescale.
Well that scuppers the whole of my pointless ramble! (you would expect that I could do basic addition / subtraction given that I did a maths degree many moons ago
)
How many moons ago? Must be more than 1000 ![]()
OK, letās try what happens when I ignore myself forever. Just relaxing silence, I guess. Bye bye forum.
So you can ignore a user and simply not see their posts? I am actually a bit curious about topics created by the user. Will replies from others still be visible? What about other people quoting the ignored user?
Surely these must show up.
Topics from ignored users are still visible on the topic list. I donāt know the specifics, I never ignored anyone.
You can just direct any user you wish to ignore, to the Off-topic Games section and ask them to stay there. They will be very hidden there.
I think you have to many unis to stay there for long ![]()
