idling/juggling

Does anyone have any tips on juggling while idling? I’ve been practicing, but
it’s going really slow. I can juggle riding forward, but I can’t seem to stay
balanced idling! Any tips/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks, Alex

Re: idling/juggling

keep on practising.

For a change you may want to try bunny hopping instead of idling every
now and then.

I’ve heard that if you first learn to ride without using your arms/hands it will
help. Get on your uni like you normally do and idle. When your ready, cross your
arms and practice idling this way. If you can idle like this you should be able
to do it while juggling since when you juggle you hold your arms relatively
still. Hope this helps.

It’s not so much that your arms don’t move around while juggling - it’s just
that their direction is governed by whatever you’re juggling rather than being
free to flail about and aid balance. The technique you mention is a definite
help when learning to juggle on a uni - you can vary it by putting your hands on
your head, arms by your side, behind your back etc.

That said, I find that a bigger problem with juggling while idling is trying
to find a natural rhythm for both movements - I don’t idle at the same rate
as I juggle.

The best advice I’ve heard is to concentrate on whichever aspect you find
hardest. Personally I can idle better than I can juggle clubs so I concentrate
such that I would rather ‘dismount’ than drop a club.

Hope that helps.

Regards, Mark.
