I just bought a 24" Schwinn

It was in the closet at Ozone Bikes. Josh offered it for $75. When I said
sure instead of bargaining he seemed a little surprised, so he threw in a
quick-release seatpost bolt and some fancy valve caps. I think we both
think we robbed the other guy.

Re: I just bought a 24" Schwinn

My first unicycle at age 16 in 1975 was a Schwinn 24" (I paid about $75 new then, I think). My first unicycle at age 38 when I reintroduced myself to unicycling was a Schwinn 24" (I paid $200 for it - it was before unicycle.com started carrying them). My first one I gave away. The second one has been on extended loan for the past 2 1/2 years. But both served me well.

Enjoy!

What a deal! Our local cycle shop had a couple of Schwinn unicycles (a
20 and 24) in their inventory this summer. They wanted $165.00 USD for
them. I didn’t buy one.

Schwinns, the flat metal frame kind are a great deal, just don’t expect to bunny-hop on them because the hubs snap. [Unicycle.com may be using it’s muscle to change this.]
I have had one for five years and I love it dearly.

Kurland, how are things going with the Coker? Did Haygood enjoy his ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway? Will long cranks work for you? Enquiring minds want to know.

Hmm, I’ve owned at least 8 schwinn unicycles (the kind with the flat blades
for the frame - not the giraffe) and have never had a hub snap. I have bent
cranks and, before square tapered hubs were standard, I was constantly
trashing the cotter pins. The largest drops that I routinely landed on my
schwinns were around 3 feet but I was constantly hopping up/down stairs. I
presently have 4 schwinn unicycles and they have all held up quite well.
They are heavier than most other unicycles though.

Thanks for the tip. It’s pretty much for Christa, though; Cokers are more
fun than anything.

Practicing freemounting and riding a block is still fun and I’m getting
better slowly.

Yes he did, very much.

No. Once I get the hang of this I’ll probably get shorter cranks.
