The Qu-ax is a high quality unicycle made in Germany. I thought about getting one myself for a long time (Now I have a Coker deluxe thats worth more than my car). If you’re new to unicycling, I wouldn’t get the Qu-ax yet. Your Torker DX is a fine unicycle (probably from 2004 or December 2003). This is just me, but I don’t think you should drop $300 on a unicycle that isn’t much of an upgrade from the one you’re riding now.
On the other hand, if the one you’re riding now is more of a loaner until you get your own, then there are other factors to consider. The Qu-ax is great, but so are a bunch of others, it all depends on what you’re going to use it for.
If you’re looking at extreme unicycling, grinding ledges and doing some serious drops, then, yeah, a Trials cycle is what you’ll want. (and if you’re serious about it, get a good one. Personally, I like Onza for trials, but you MUST either get leg armor with it, or change out the pedals before you get fillayed)
If you want to ride down a steep trail in the woods, barely keeping your head from being stripped from your torso, then get a Muni, which usually cost about $100 more. The 2006 Torker DX 24" is real nice, and it won’t completely smash your piggy bank.
If you’re still learning to ride, or are sticking to the roads, or learning the harder, more technical tricks of freestyle, then you have a lot of good options. Semcycle is famous for quality, and Miyatas are close to perfect (although I didn’t see them on Unicycle.com. What gives?). I’ve been dissapointed by my Nimbus II, but it’s held up to a lot. Hell, the new Torker LX 20" is a much better freestyle unicycle than most people give it credit for.
So, to answer your question, yes, the Qu-ax is a good unicycle, but it’s probably not the best unicycle for you at this point.
