How to deal with excessive sweat

I have been riding my 27,5” every day for a few weeks and am able to ride “large” distances more or less without any problems (My distance record is 12km).

I commute to University, do my grocery shopping, ride to friends to hang out etc. I dont even get out of breath riding normal distances anymore, but I still sweat lots. So when sitting down in my classes (~2km), I am already drenched. When getting home, I am drenched again. Riding to my local grocery store (~1km) is all the same.

Is this common and will get better or is this just normal? Can you give me any input?

For some side information, I mostly ride in Tshirts, shorts, helmet and gloves and a backpack with a qu-ax 27,5” muni.

I know this has been probably been discussed a lot already, but I cannot really find anything useful for my needs.

Under my helmet, I often wear a bandana, which absorbs some sweat. I could carry two if I were going somewhere I needed to not look sweaty.

As for the rest of your clothing, try “wicking” or “performance” clothing. Your sweat will dry faster. Cotton will just look sweaty and feel clammy.

If you’ve learned to ride relatively recently (within the past few months to maybe a year ago) I’d say the sweating will likely go away after some more time in the saddle.

There’s also the climate you ride in as well, though I’m going to assume it’s not super hot or humid being it wasn’t brought up

I live in Austria, so its about 5-15°C dry and/or rainy, so its not really important.

Some peeps sweat more than others. Do you also sweat a lot with other sports? I reckon the more you ride the more you can relax and the less you sweat.

Although I have been riding for years and I consider myself as a pretty good rider - so I don’t struggle to ride -, I still sweat a lot even for small rides.
As Setonix mentioned, I guess it depends on people. That’s in a way a biological advantage: being able to sweat a lot means that your body can cool down better than others. So, enjoy your sweat

If you’re like me, you can bring a set of clothes to put on dry ones when at destination… Not the way we’d like it to be, but that’s the probably the best we can do

I too sweat quite a lot when unicycling. One reason is that I simply ride at quite a high intensity compared to walking or riding a b!ke. I think a second reason is that unicycling just isn’t a very economical way of transportation (there was a discussion on this subject maybe half a year ago) - at least not for me. The fun does more than make up for this, though, so it’s still my preferred means of transportation (until my bum or my knees start to hurt).

Just to add my 2cts.

I sweat too, even if I go easy. I put unicycle out there with roller blading as those activities you can’t quite use for commuting because of the elevated sweating that comes with them.
