How to attach water bottle holder to handlesaddle M?

Anyone have advice on how to attach the bottle holder to the handlesaddle M?

@ManiusTerentiusPullus are you putting a brake lever on it as well or just a water bottle ?
The handle part on the M, wont take a very long or large bottle, mearuring a size M, you have 20cms from the front of the seat to the end of the handle, if the bottle is positioned centrally and you dont want the bottle sticking out the front of the handle. It should be easy enough to do with some strong cable ties and a suitable donor bottle and holder.

For longer journeys I use a small backpack with built in water bladder and tube, its insulated so you can pop the bladder in the fridge, get it chilled and it stays cold for about 4 hours. You can drink and ride easily, by just sucking on the tube, no hands needed.

Something like this is handle bar or frame mt, adjustable clamp and 2 postions. It would mount directly on the handle or to the central brake lever mt.

I love the look of that bottle cage that @MadHatchetAndy linked to on Amazon.

Here is the link to the same item sold on the Amazon United States site. It looks like a bottle cage that will mount to the handle of the Handle Saddle, but it also looks like it will mount to the seat post or the seat post tube on the frame of your unicycle.

I sometimes carry a water bottle like this when I’m in a hurry. However, when I need to brake, I have to hold the bottle in my left hand.

@Syoten, low tech, I love it, I so nearly mocked one up like this for a joke . But if it works, sorted.
I was thinking for cheap low tech option, would be laying the bottle on its side, on top of the bars, length ways, and a mini elasticated bungy cargo net and cable ties to keep it held in place. The type used on motorbikes.

I’ve tried several bottle holders on the seatpost, but my bottles often drop or get lost after a few bumps or UPDs. After losing a few bottles, I decided to keep them in the side pockets of my backpack. These elastic pockets securely holds appropriately sized bottles, even while I go muni.

I just discovered another solution using a strong enough elastic cord. However, it makes holding the bar tougher. This might be more suitable for a long handlesaddle.

@Syoten @ManiusTerentiusPullus @Uni2ONE2 , how about this for a simple solution. Cheap option. You can still use the bars, brake and have a drinks holder
Option 1 Top Mount - put the brake lever on the bars, invert the central M4O brake mount. Then mount the bottle holder to this, see piccy. If you get an adjustable mt you can positon it how you want A 22mm sprung plastic coated P clip to mount to. That gives a good solid accessable mounting point, I might even give it a go. I have been pondering on a une mtd water bottle

@ManiusTerentiusPullus @Syoten @Uni2ONE2 Depends if you want to drink on the move, or just carry a drink for when you stop riding.

For on the move drinking I would recommend something like this, it was quite cheap, not much more than a drinks holder. I can fill and keep it chilled in the fridge ready. The back pack has an insulated pocket, and the bladder hangs upside down, feed the tube through, clip it to my chest and its ready, no hands needed, on the move drinking. It stays cold for about 4 hours. I made the exra indulation pouch out of foil bubble wrap and a hot iron to seal it to size. It will take a thin ice pack and keep snacks cool at the same time.
Takes about 2ltr of liquid. Added bonus if you fall off you have a nice cushion. No spilling, no water bottle to shoot off if you have a UPD. In summer, keeps your back cool, even with the back pack on.

@Syoten Haha, I was thinking along these lines, just bungy on, a water bottle like you have done. Thats not a big water bottle though, it looks larger than it is, against the bars. Like you say the bars and brake are not easy like this. Cheap and easy mind, just a few bungys or cable ties and a suitable bottle

I’m using a similar setup on my nightfox.

Just as a note – I think your brake disc is mounted the wrong way round – the spokes on the disc should look like they are ‘hooking’ up into the calliper rather than flowing into it. The way it is can lead to failure of the disc under heavy braking I believe.

This one would just clamp straigh on to the bars, quick release and easy to remove. Price ok. It could go either on top or underneath.

why not fill the inner tube with water and connect a little tap to the valve. No need for extra bottles that just fall off when you UPD or water that sloshes in ur backpack

Im very bad with water drinking and sporting. Even when it is very hot and riding 10-15km, I just wait until I’m back home before I drink anything.

Thanks I’ll look into that

@Uni2ONE2 @ManiusTerentiusPullus @Syoten Can you mount a water bottle on the M40 size M handle Saddle? Eeerm yes you can, bars, brake and water bottle are all accessable, but its not rideable, I am afraid. So a big no no. Plus prototype 1 looks like a water bottle c–k rocket, when your sitting on the saddle, gonna get plenty of looks thats for sure :rofl::rofl::rofl:.

Prototype 1 Top Bar Mt

Prototype 2, works and evetything fits ok, nice and secure, for upd’s. Downside, thats the smallest size bottle @ 500ml and you have to stop for a sip.

Prototype 2 Front headstock Mt

No 2s a winner for carrying a small amount of water, but not for drinking on the move. For me thats ok, I stop for a drink anyway :+1::grinning_face:, plus my mac in a pack fits in it for wet winter riding. Everthing nicley out of the way for damage and securest bottle position for upd’s.

Prototype 1 would probabley work ok on the M40 handle saddle size L “road and touring”, as you would have the space, to take a bigger bottle and you could position it higher up the bars. Thats my 29er hatchet, so it should give you an idea for available space.

I put a bottle holder on the frame before. But now I prefer it simpler, so I don’t have to worry when I want to hop.

You could probably also mount it on the back of the frame, using a Holy Rail to provide an angle to the bottle. Hopefully, this would let you use a bigger water bottle :crossed_fingers:

I use one of these on my seatpost: https://www.performancebike.com/profile-design-aqua-rack-ii-dual-water-bottle-cage-black-seatpost-mount-acrack21/p695286?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17394200878&gclid=CjwKCAjwx8nCBhAwEiwA_z__08UteXqMP129iJxgU6lzVY69-jKUcM4nM6wxVPX86QbW4rvHp71HORoCaZcQAvD_BwE

The cages broke from dropping the unicycle on them, but I’ve replaced them with aluminum cages and have had no issues since
