How strange...

Just a few days ago I asked for some feedback about an extension that
converts a standard uni to a giraffe. Well today, in my daily ebay scan
for unicycles, I found that I was not the only one to think of such a
thing. Check it out at
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1026540497.
There are two pictures. It’s almost exactly the same as the one I made
years ago.

Well, I guess it’s pretty tough to come up with a truly “unique” idea.

Did you email him to see if he’s your long lost psychically linked twin
brother!!??

If you have an Ebay account you should email him to let him know about
rec.sport.unicycling. Maybe he’ll change his mind about selling the
extention.

Fascinating! Of course the seller is leaving off a piece of information I
might consider important; what size tubing is it meant to fit on?

But that belies the fact that you would have to have a custom axle/hub
built to actually use such a convertible unicycle. I don’t think any such
thing is manufactured anywhere. For the time and effort you’d put in, it
would be easier and probably cheaper to buy a second unicycle.

Actually on mine I just put a right-hand crank with chainring on the
unicycle where the normal RH unicycle arm was. The clearance between the
frame and the chainring was slightly problematic. However this was before
cotterless cranks so I filed the notch of the cottered axle a little wider
to accomodate the chainring.

If memory server it worked quite well for the time I used it. I also had
it geared 3:2 with a 20" wheel so it was pretty fast. I never did get the
hang of going up hills though.
