it took me around 2 and a half weeks with school and everything…and i had about 5 metres squared practise area but yeh pretty average time…st00pid sch00l

The definitive Klaas Bil study of how long it took to ride. There may be a link in there to Klaas’ analysis of how long to expect to take to learn based on present age, wheel size, and some other variables. I know he did the analysis but am unsure if it is linked to in the thread i gave you.

I took me 16 years till I could ride. Then I took a couple weeks to learn. I just realized that March 2006 marked my 30th anniversary as a rider!

One thing: I wouldn’t call my study ‘definitive’. I’m still collecting
data to do a sequel and refine the analysis. Unfortunately, the data
that people supply in this thread are incomplete (for my purposes). If
anyone feels inclined to contribute, please go to :

You can do two things there:

Assess your unicycling talent in a fun way.
Send your data to me to be included in the ‘definitive’ study.

Well it took me like a month… I admit when I got ticked I didn’t ride for 15 minutes before I rode again. Now I can Jump, One foot and other normal stuff.

it would be interesting to extend the study further: how fast are you progressing? the problem is how to measure that…
I ,for instance, have been rolling for over three years and I am still unable to jump over a small tree root that happens to cross my way
I am a super-slow learner!

after about two hours, separated by a week, i experienced a click, and knew i had it. once in the possession of a unicycle, a week saw me freemounting and turning proficiently.

i can relate it took me around 2-3 weeks to learn how to ride. but with commitment and a lot of hours of praticing i became the top rider in my team

im on my second day now, and i can’t even ride 1 centimetre, unless you count it a metre away from me. and that happens when im not on it.(usually i fall off after i let go of the door posts) and it really hurts falling on lino

EIGHT MONTHS!!! I can freemount about half the time and ride 150’ sometimes. I think I should quit but have too much time in now. I also can turn unintentionally.
