About 6hrs Practise to ride and idle. (About 3 days for that) If I had more Time it’s 10 Hours. Only when I’m not Busy. Over about a week for that 10 hours period. Sometimes I get distract it.
People That is. Staring at me. Darn it.

Hi, I’m Kenny and I’m a MUni addict!!! I am a 49 year old male and have been riding a little over 2 months. It took me just over a week of practicing for one hour everyday to achieve rides of 50 meters or more. I learned how to ride on a 20" inch Torker and then switched back to a 24" P.O.S. before my buying my 24" Yuni MUni which I ride exclusively now. Even with the support of the group, I don’t see how I’m going to beat my addiction.
(oops, wrong forum) hehehe

Age: 42
Time: About 6 hours over 2 weeks.
Gender: Male

No instructor but the WEB!
Motorbike trial, then bike trial background. Initially I wanted to try unicycle to see if it helps me to improve on bike trial.
Now I’m a complete MUNI addict!!! (on 26")

BTW XC MUNI is easier than bike trial when getting older…

Uni: 24" Schwinn

Raphael Lasar
Matawan, NJ

a) 10
b) Two weeks, 1-2 hours a day going back and forth in a hallway.
c) Male, my wife can verify.
d) 20" Schwinn
e) Self taught with assistance from Schwinn owners manual.
f) greed…I saw a picture of a kid on a uni in a catalog and I added “unicycle” to the list of things I wanted for Christmas. I also thought it would be cool since none of my friends had one.
i) “i” is for injuries: only minor scrapes and bruises for my first twenty years of riding. At 30, broken leg which resulted in two surgeries.

A)14
B)2hrs
C)Male

-Ryan

a: 8ish (can’t recall -42 now)
b: months, several hours/nearly daily (can’t recall)
c: male (last I checked -can recall the difference)
d: there is no d I can recall

We knew no one (locally) that could ride and my brother(s) and I argued how to do it properly -still I’m the only one that realy knows (arguably).

A: 47
B: 15 hrs (a couple hours a day for two weeks; I wanted to learn during my summer holiday last year as I thought it would be a good way to take my mind off the fact that the job I had been doing for 13 years had just been cut due to the govt budget cutbacks! Now I ride the 12 kms to my new job many times each month and I love my new job even more than the old job, imagine that, double bonus!)
C: girl, wishing I had quads like the guys but glad I don’t have all the ‘seat discomfort’ challenges as the boys

D: learned on a 24 inch Sem XL that I got at the Seattle juggling festival because the folks on this board advised me that maybe getting a 20 inch Norco from my LBS wouldn’t be that good an idea; the Sem is still my commuter uni and has more km’s on it than my MUni or TUni put together… humm that leads me to my dream of getting a 29’er for commuting some time soon, but that’s another thread…
E: self taught? no not really as I had everyone on this newsgroup to encourage me and give me tips along the way

Re: How long did it take you to learn?

A. Age 42.
B. 30 hours over 3 months.
C. Male.

Practised along a fence for first 15 hours. Then had brother walk with
me. One day brother was not available, so simply tried taking off from
the back of my car and I was going a dozen feet! After that I ditched
my brother - I am able to do a few hundred feet easily. I am now aged
44. I am not able to go for a long distance (more than 200 metres
without running out of breath). Can freemount sometimes. Want to learn
reverse Unicycling, idling and mountain unicycling. I am learning
juggling  Learning a lot from the posts here. Keep it up!

That sounds exactly like how I learned. It took me a long time but I had short practice sessions. I also learned on my own.

Nikki

a : 15
b : 5-7hrs, over a week
c : male

A. 41
B. around 10 hours.
C. claiming ‘Male’

Coach: few tips from my daughter.

For a while I just sat on it, and rode it in my kitchen, a few feet. I was in such bad shape that that cause my foot to revolt (from constant dismounts). I had to lay off for a month. The weather improved so I went on and used a chainlink fence. Within a few weeks of 1/2 hour 4 days a week I got over the 50m mark. I also learned to freemount in that time.

Response

A. 53
B. 6 weeks, Hour a day
I found it difficult.
C. Mr. To you kid.
D. Torker 20” chrome
E. Self Taught
F. I like to try new things

I’ve been at this for about 9 or 10 months now. I just bought a Torker Unistar HD 24" (3 days) and I’m getting around the neighborhood streets pretty well. This 24” is a bit heavier than the 20” so the legs are getting a better work out. This is good. I’m looking forward to starting some off road riding after I get used to the the bigger uni.
