I’ve just lately started riding my Coker a lot. I find that a comfortable
speed for me is about 8-10 mph. I’m sure that as my fitness and strength
improve that I’ll find my speed will increase as well.

I live in very hilly Seattle. I take a 3 mile ride during which I encounter 4 stop signs, about 40 open intersections, and 4 VERY steep hills about a city block long each. I make this ride in 18 minutes for an average speed of 10 mph. There is a lot of speed-up/slow-down for cross traffic at the intersections. This is a comfortable pace.

That’s pretty fast. Is that on the sidewalk or the pavement?

Typically 10-15 mph. I usually ride 10 miles per day in less than an hour.

Christopher Grove, you are hereby charged with writing the following:

When I was commuting 15K to work when the bus drivers were on strike, I
averaged 6-7 mph. Seems I’m slower than everyone else! I’m not the most
physically inclined

Unless I misunderstood (likely), Roger Davies claimed to cruise at 17
mph (believable knowing Roger). I’m averaging 9-10 mph on not-very-hilly
roads these days; maxing at about 14 mph.
I am usually cruising on the flat at 11-12mph, although when inspired can
hold 12-13 for several miles. When I was first starting, 10mph was my
basic comfortable cruising speed. My best average for 6.5 miles to work is
just under 13mph, but that was a “fast day”.
